An absolute steal here! The C500 is selling in the Orange shop for £110 I believe, and this is the upgrade to it, and it comes with a 512mb SD card!!!

Log on to the Orange shop now, and take a look! Brilliant bargain!!!

a bit awkward, but yes it can be done for free

need to have activesync running ( guest is fine.. in fact I used my existing version loaded from an old pda, but its also on the disc / avaialble to down load from m/s )

You need to unlock for applications first ( security?) - tried via orange develops site route , but no joy, so used registry editor / info at http://www.modaco.com/INFO_Decert_SIM_Unlock_C550-t222786.html

    change values to

    HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\00001001 = 1 (RAPI)
    HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\00001005 = 40 (Cert)

    then used http://www.spv-developers.com/content/SPV-Services.zip

loaded/ ran cert.cab from phone , then ran the services program

  • Perfect.. Just what I'm after.

Since my C500 had seen better days I recently upgraded to an M5000, which is an amazing piece of kit but is rather large to carry around everywhere with you. This will fill the gap nicely.

The 512 MiniSD alone is worth around £30-40.

the c500s battery life was fairly decent, certainly didn't have to charge it every day, unlike my p910I

If it's any help I tend to have mine switched on for around 12 hrs a day, and typically talk for 30 - 40 mins of that. Watch around 1 - 1.5 hours of Divx on it, and the rest of the time it sits waiting for someone to call!

I normally recharge it at the end of the 3rd day, as I don't want it to go flat on me the next day. So real world approx 36 hours standby and 1.5 hours talk.

My experience of phones is their battery life varies enormously based on signal strength. For example a day at home (with weak signal) would nearly drain my P800 in 24 hrs. Yet would cope with a week in a strong signal area between charges.

The C550 figures are mainly in a strong signal area (central London).

    YMMV - Rufus.
  • Its now just £99.99. Sounds tempting. Now do I NEED it?
