what feedback shall I leave? combined postage

I hate to leave negative feedback. But feel I want to with one seller.
I bought 2 items from them but they refused to combine the postage cost even thou they were sent together in the same packet. They charged me in £10 pound for 2 items that cost about £2.53(price on the envelope not much packing apart from the envelope) post together. I feel negative feedback would be justified but I don't which of the two items I should leave it for. Do leave for one or both? Or leave negative one and positive for the other. I want to be fair as possible but feel ripped off. Help! What would you do?

I personally think thats pretty shocking. I sell a reasonably high volume on eBay and always offer combined postage, and if a buyer pays seperately, without waiting for a combined invoice, always refund a discount.

My inclination would be to email and state as they would not combine p&p charges you are not happy that your items were posted in one package and you at least want the difference refunding in terms of what they saved. See what they say, if they aren't helpful I would neg.

  • I guess the postage was quite steep for each separate item to start with? Although I don't agree the seller is right you did bid knowing these postage costs. Also maybe ask before bidding whether they will combine postage. If they won't then either buy elsewhere or accept it. Yes - the seller probably should have reduced the combined postage cost but I guess they weren't obliged to.
Perhaps a neutral with your grievance would be best feedback.

You can also leave the detailed seller feedback. Put nothing on them, this will affect his overall score (if he's not a big seller), then his listings appear further down in the 'Best Match' search option, which ebay have as default.

Also I'd ask nicely if he would offer a slight refund for postage. If not leave negative for both saying that the postage was extrotionate, but the item was good.

Atleast he can't leave you negative feedback due to the new rules. (a buyer done this to me when I left him neatural feedback!)

Actually you need to leave 1 out of 5, that's the lowest possible score. If you leave nothing, then it counts as if you did not rate them at all.

  • At the end of the day if he refused any discount for combined postage then he should have posted both items seperately as postage for 2 combined items would be cheaper than each item seperately. Therefore he has made more money on the sale than if he had sold each item to a seperate buyer! I would e-mail him and point this out saying that you feel a partial postage refund would be justified. If he ignores this or does not respond then i would leave a neutral and mark him right down on the postage and communication stars.
I am a business seller on E-bay and always offer discount for combined postage. If they pay before requesting it then I refund via Paypal for additional postage.

Postage was not steep. Total cost for both items was £2.53. I paid £10. I did not intented on buying twos item from this seller. Just when recieved the email ebay saying i had won, it had the "also from this seller..."at the bottom and I saw something and I bid on it. After I won both I contacted the seller straight away. They refused. But if they refused they should of posted each item Speratly. I would been happy if they had done this. I have paid 4 time the amount they paid to post it.

Should always check postage issues before buying really, otherwise you can't really have any arguments over what the costs said in the listing. Only you can decide, but personally I think it is hard to justify anything worse than a neutral when gripes relate to postage costs.

Both items should be posted seperately if there is no discount for combined postage.
