i regularly cook roasts/joints in my sc with no liquid at all, so i wouldn't worry about it burning dry or burning your house downDEC GC £463.67/£450

I always put about 150 - 200mls of liquid in mine and everything cooks well.
I have three heat settings on mine but only ever need to put things on the low seting if am out all day as this gets pretty hot. I only use the higher settings if I want things done in 3 - 4hrs.I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order.

I would confirm what others have said, a little bit is enough. I usually do about an inch in the bottom, adding a bay leaf,a couple of cloves and a halved onion. The liquid that comes out of the meat, plus this makes a gorgeous stock.0

For a joint of beef, I usually put a couple of cms of red wine at the bottom of my SC.0

was thininking of doing a small gammon joint in the slow cooker for the first time, my plan is to sit it on top of an orange sliced in half, a small amount of water and a drizzle of honey, does this sound ok0

Yeah sounds fine
I cook a lb one in a kettle full of water, 250g lentils, couple of onions cut in half (skin removed) bag very roughly peeled carrots and a few potatoes. Once the meat is ready, remove, blend the liquid, put some chunks of meat back and reserve the rest. Voila , very lazy soupA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

I cook two at a time in my slow cooker, with an onion, clove, garlic and a carrot with a little water. We have one for dinner, the leftover gets chopped up to use in omelettes, etc, the other i slice for lunches. The stock is used for soup.Loving the sunny days!0

I don't use my SC that often but I have a gammon joint and was wondering if I could cook it in it.
If it's ok to do so could somebody please give me instructions on how best to cook it. Just want it to be plain my DS doesn't like sauces.
Thanks0 -
I often cook gammon in my SC, I just put it in, add enough water to come half way up the joint & set it going.
