can't use my orange pay as you go sim

Ive got 4 brand new orange pay as you go sims so I thought I would register one to take advantage of an offer.
Ive tried all 4 sims in 3 different Orange phones and the sims state no service.
I initially thought my sim was invalid because it had maybe expired but 2 of them are literally brand new and all are out of the pack.
I cant see what Im doing wrong as Ive registered plenty before no probs!

thanks - side issue, does anyone know how long it takes to port a number to Orange? I have a number that is on orange payg which I want to move to an Orange contract Sim that I just purchased.
So I think the only way to do it is get my pac no from orange, move it to say Voda and then port it to my new orange sim (the contract one) but is there any time constraints on this??Bismillah0 -
Ring OCS - they will tranfer an Orange PAYG number to a new contract virtually instantly, no porting involved.
