I got through yesterday evening after a 20 minute wait and applied for a Access Reward Account (Issue 2) paying 6.4%AER fixed for 12 months. This is no longer on their site so I presume it has been withdrawn. I hope I can still open it, they are sending the application through the post.0

That's extremely helpful thanks. I'll give them a ring once the OH returns (as the funds in that account are 'hers' .... or so she's beginning to believe) ..... and check the application ordered end of last week is on it's way.
Makes it a bit less painful. As they're not the swiftest in cashing cheques .... and it offends me seeing the money languishing in a current account!

Just rang. Recorded Msg says that they have now withdrawn the 6.6% 1yr fixed rate account.
Anyone who requested an application earlier has until 30 November to return the completed application form (they need to receive it by then so perhaps send it Special Delivery for tracking purposes).
I checked my calendar and the 30th is a sunday. There might not be anybody there on a saturday or sunday to receive it as banks usually only open 5 days a week I think. So perhaps it would be best to make sure that it's there no later than fri 28th.
I'm in a position where I'll be penalised all of this month's interest if I transfer my money out of my A&L account before the end of the month. I'm wondering whether it would be okay to send the form and cheque by special delivery, to arrive on friday but I don't transfer my money to my chequing account by CHAPS until the 1st of dec. Would the cheque bounce before the money went through?0 -

No.
In the unlikely event they process the cheque on the day of receipt (28th) .... it won't go into Clearing (Mon-Fri only) until the morning of the 1st. So the earliest it can hit your account is overnight between 1st / 2nd.
And my experience with BM is that they take several days to process your cheque. But I would CHAPS (A&L don't seem to be up to speed with Faster Payments) the funds on the 1st .. as you suggest, on the premise it's better to be safe.If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
Thanks Mikey. Are A&L up to speed with CHAPS?0

Now there's a question ...... I don't know the answer to! They should be .... it's a system that's been around for years and it's essentially a manual input, so they should be able to manage it. But you do need to organise it in advance :To transfer funds electronically from your current account to an account with another bank on the same day, a CHAPS payment can be arranged. To arrange a CHAPS payment from your Premier account please contact us ...
(I've dropped the contact link off as it doesn't work because of the way it's embedded in their questions - but doubtless you have their site details)If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -

Just popped on to say I rang BM tonight and they told me that the 1yr fixed bond that I applied for after hours last night will definitely be honoured (even though some peole were posting about announcements that it was closed yesterday lunchtime). The lady told me it was only officially closed this morning. Anybody applying yesterday will get the paperwork through and the rate0

How long do they take to send the application form by post? I filled the online form on the 6th so would have expected it to have arrived by now...0
