Ah! So they intend sending an armada of rafts. In the meantime, should they not issue life jackets to keep us afloat!
We had better hope it is not like the Titanic and that it does not turn out there are not enough rafts in total or that some of the rafts have now been allowed to leave the sinking ship not completely filled with investors.........:D
I think the number of investors being compensated may be 10,000 per day and not 10,000 per week based on the number of people here who have now had the second email.0 -

I haven't received the second email yet but this seems to be the latest news ....
"Using an online claims process, the FSCS said its initial phase - focusing on returning savings to 10,000 customers, had gone well, with the first raft of customers receiving compensation yesterday".
What a side splitting announcement, absolutely hilarious. Rafts of customers leads me to think of bail outs, sink or swim, flow with the tide, depends which way the wind blows and up the creek without a paddle and so on and so on. I just wish, being the rat that I am, I'd deserted the sinking ship in September! In memory of Chris Hyde #8670 -

If we are to believe FSCS then they had about 3 weeks (up to the 4 Dec) to complete the claims as they asked anyone that had not recieved the 2nd mail to call them by that date, so if you go on no of accounts that is 300K it makes 100K claims a week.

A more helpful adviser based in the former Icesave offices in Newcastle admitted to me that they hadn't yet got all the funding available.
That is the real reason for the holdup and it is totally untrue that a computer system cannot run 300,000 BACS payments within a space of 24 hours.
This is made all the more unfair by the fact that those being kept waiting for the government to source the money are not being paid any interest during the interim,.:mad:0 -

The Times has the story now as well ...
"The Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) says that the vast majority of UK customers with Icesave, the collapsed Icelandic bank, will recieve their money back within the next two weeks. The payout process is being done in phases, so some savers will receive their compensation before others".

Hopefully no life rafts will be needed0 -
