Seed Potatoes

I was looking at the B&Q seed potato selection today as I'm hoping to start growing this year.
I was thinking of growing my potatos in half plastic barrels (size of a 205 ltr oil drum cut in half). How many should I plant per half barrel?

Thanks Flyfisher, I had found them online but once you take delivery into consideration they work out horrifically expensive!

I'm considering trying to chit some from the farm shop instead. I always used to grow my spuds this way, so

I grew six nicola seed potatoes last year (my first attempt), 3 to a planter, and got around 16 1/2 lbs of lovely potatoes.

Oh we had fun last year growing spuds in plastic bags.

Off to buy some seed spuds.

Hi all
I bought a netted bag that weighed 3kg and was £3 of Maris piper and I gave half to my friends dad along with some of the Sturon onion set that I got for £1.50, I also got a bag with 5 Rooster potatoes in for £1. And I shall pop back to see if they have any of the out of stock seed potatoes in this weekend.

If anybody finds cheap seeds in aldi or lidl, please gimme a shout I can get there but its a bit awkward so I dont go unless I hear of something special

Lidl's (in Scotland) are advertising their seeds being available from Thursday 29th Jan, large seeds 47p and fine seeds 28p.
