    Hello all

Am back from work, was training volunteers today and it was one of those days when I love my job - great bunch of people, reflecting the diversity of London in every way which was lovely. I put a beef hotpot in the slo cooker before I went so we'll be eating that soon and having a lazy evening. WM is going on but that's it!

    will catch up tomorrow.

Gosh you lot are good when you need a sit down and a rest - my OH always gets "manflu" but I think I'm giving him a run for his money with this one - only mine's real

Good to see lots of flying going on today - hope everyone's having a good 'un

No flying done this afternoon other than washing dishes and clearing up after lunch. Went shopping - bought 8 Pillows from M&S (2 for £5) as the old ones were bllleeuuuurrrgggghhh - can't think when I last replaced them

Have also bought myself an ironing basket - my grand plan is that I am not allowed any more ironing than will fit in it - will this motivate me to get and keep my ironing under control? What do you think guys?

Am of to do HHI no2 Catch you later

thats an idea, when i did the dining room, the other day, i "hid" mine behind the door! it is on a little set of drawers and is nearly as tall as me!!!!think i will try the basket i have one here, somewhere.............
and a bargain with the pillows!!

Johanne - sad news about the pups.

Laundry is functioning again in this household. :D New washer installed and on its first empty maintenance cycle. Old washer is in the back of my car ready to take to the dump tomorrow. Best friend up the road's husband is a poppet. DS helped him too so I just had to stand and direct operations which was nice. Trouble is, the utility area is filthy now so I need to mop and wipe. It's amazing how much debris collects underneath a washing machine in 8 years

As to wine o'clock - well bf's husband walked back up the road with a bottle of red from me as a thankyou and it's gin o'clock in the Soappie household. I'm just having a restoration one before I set to on the mess that is the utility area floor.

had some sad news, BIL just informed us their two little dogs got loose from their caravan last night and have been killed on the main road :(:( I wasnt a fan of the dogs but hate to think that the poor things have been killed and nephew(11) and nieces (6 & 8) must be devastated :(

Ironically they only got the puppies this year to eventually "replace" their other dog who is very old (15ish), but who has now outlived them although probably not for long as he is very poorly... Suppose only good thing is it happened at night so the kids didnt chase after them... that doesnt even bare thinking about............

hugs to your nieces and nephew, my friend lost her dog earlier this year, took her for a new walk(whilst down the caravan) and she ran through a hedge, not realising there was a cliff the other side:eek:

Caught up to the end of p68 as DH decided to do another hour’s work, but need to go and sort the veg for dinner so as far as I’ve got is to say:

Lady liberty – hope you are feeling ok.

Sexymouse – welcome back. We missed you!

Soappie – definitely agree re Tesco going downhill. My delivery was late last night, all the substitutions were to far too expensive stuff and I was generally disappointed. I am going to ring CS to complain tomorrow. And Ill try asda next time – I’ve never really enjoyed shopping there but online it will probably be fine.

Mumoffour77 – my friend had awful, weeping eczema. The only thing that really helped at all was soaking in dead sea salts

Lil_me – great news on the boots order and especially on little matthew :)

GnB – hope LO is a bit better today

Julie- your post about catching up with DH made me laugh. A friend kept phoning the other day when we were in the same situation and after phoning the house phone and my mob eventually got DH a bit later on his mob and demanded to know why we weren’t answering.. DH ended up saying ‘yes we were in, we were indisposed’

Tooch - I can't get the link to work.....

  • A little complaint and an information request!!

Who got me into my family tree??? I've now spent rather a lot of time, well too much time if I'm honest, going back - its totally addictive! First certificates requested..

No skeletons as yet but some grey areas we thought aren't and one of two family myths are proven to be true. We've been running back and forth between two laptops like 8 year olds - great fun.

Now for the information request as I know some of you are in Hull - what was Sculcoates like in the late 1890's to say 1930's - agricultural or ?. Would a general worker have found work there during the depression when escaping London? Was it originally a very small village as I feel it may have been from limited information I have?

Feel free to PM your replies!

    thanks

    Moam

who should do a few HHI's but is thinking census searches instead!
Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.
