CS I get my highlights done at a local salon, inc cut cost me I think it was £22....once every 6 weeks (or in my case forget and every several months) isn't too bad. Well worth shopping around. It's not Toni and Guy's, more the blue rinse heaven, but cheap, cheerful and they do exactly the same as what an £85 one did! £5 or whatever for hair colour, £10 for cut, I'd rather let them do it.
Washer on, loads on airers, need to make the boys some dinner now, DPs gone to work so yet again plans for meals have changed as he's not eating with us again (made him stuff to take) actually, I think plan was fish, I could still do that, right, fish it is. Made me laugh yesterday, DS1 trying new foods mean't he could have baked potato with us, but had to make DP waffles, I don't know who's worse for their food issues, him or the kids! Kids are watching the videos they got at the fayre in the conservatory (only place there is a video player) yes all dinosaurs ones, so I will sit out there with them, might have to put the small heater on in there later as it gets chillyOne day I might be more organised...........

Update on 'MIssion Makeover Madness'-
We appear to be on schedule:D
One wall has been whited twice, the other once. And two walls have been pinked once.
So second coats to go on. Then I'm going to Bissell the carpet. Hopefully it should bring it up like new, usually does a good job. Leaves the carpets quite dry as well.
Fingers crossed once that's done we can do the glossing later this evening;)
Just going to have some lunch
I'm impressed - go TAG :T :T :T0 -
Craftyscholar - I have used various (Garnier Nutrisse, Nice 'n Easy etc). I would suggest you start with a shade a bit lighter than your natural hair colour, not hugely so, but if you are now a bit more grey than colour, to go the same as normal might look a bit drastic, unless of course, you want a big change like bright pink, or electric blue!:p. Don't forget to put vaseline around your hair line and if you can get someone to help, ask them to check it's all covered. If anything should go wrong, ie colour too drastic, use a medicated shampoo like Vosene to lift the dye a bit. Does that help at all? I'm lucky. DD did 18 months of her hair dressing course, so usually does mine and I just have it cut regularly.DMP mutual support thread No: 433 - Mortgage - £54,556, Credit cards - £4012, Unsecured loan - £3,376, Other - £419

Afternoon ladies.
We have had a busy one today as we have been to Meadowhell and done some dreaded shopping. It was traumatic as DH in his wisdom decided DS1 could walk so we could only take the single buggy and he would carry him if it was needed. (Mainly as his boot had tut in and he CBA to empty it in my opinion.) Anyway, needless to say, DS1 needed carrying, and i ended up being the muggins who did it, and at 21/2stone he is not light.
Anyway, lots done:
last night:- made banana cake
- made a tray of banana chips (didn't work well, but i will use them in my porridge)
- made pastry for 1st time ever and it worked :T go me!!! So i turned leftover beef stew into a pie
- made a loaf in BM for 1st time in a long time, and it was the best one ever.
- bought new baby pressie/card/paper etc for a friends LO that arrived on Tuesday - lovely buying girlie stuff for a change
- got Charlie a new coat as he tore his when he fell last week and it isn't repairable - thankfully it was last years, but still makes me a bit grr as it would have done Sam
- bought Grandad and his wife xmas pressies
- bought this new baby a xmas pressie
- got baby wipes, kiddies cough bottles etc in Boots
- got DS2 some fleecy sleepsuits from primark for £3 each-bargainous and will keep him toasty warm (didn't have any coats for Charlie though  )
- paid some cash into our bank - DHs petrol expenses
- DH also paid some stuff in for work
- took the boys in the garden - DS2 tried the swing for the 1st time and loved it. DH and DS1 were pruning stuff and filled the green bin
- DH and DS1 are now assembling the new bookcase we got him with his birthday dosh. It was going wrong so i left them to it.
- one load through WM
We have planned to go to a xmas light switch on tomorrow in Sheffield, so it was good to hear the weather will be nice.

Lil-me - thanks for the tip about the car - I'll check the seals tomorrow when it's light (it's dark now). It might be the rear sunroof possibly.
Well, I now have a new washing machine in the back of my car. Wasn't the cheapest deal but I figured by the time I'd waited for something to be delivered and having to take a day off work to get it delivered (if I don't go in, I don't get paid!) then it was far better just to buy off the shelf then and there so it can all be hooked up and plumbed in tonight or tomorrow morning and washing can recommence and the drama is over.
I've no idea if the old one can be repaired but it has been making the odd funny noise over the last few months and I've worked out it is actually 8 years old (it was installed when I had my broken elbow) and hasn't cost a bean in repairs in all those years so I've had very good service out of it.
But, when shopping for it, it was amazing how many manufacturers don't put the wash cycle time in their brochures. Aware of tales of 3 hour cycles, I had the poor assistant running round trying to verify which ones did and which ones didn't take that long.
Right, now to decide whether to phone DiL's parents to see how her Dad is fixed to plumb it in tomorrow or just do it myself - what do you think girls? Is it easy to plumb these things in?I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

Two parties - one this year - one two years ago.
In between I had stopped colouring my hair and gone grey. Well I was perfectly happy with it (mother went grey in her late 30s so I had grown up with it as normal) but looking at the two sets of photos was a bit of a shock:eek:
Now not sure what to do. I can't afford salon prices and never sure how to choose right colour.
OK it's trivial, but who else am I going to share with if not you lot?
No it's not trivial - I can't afford salon prices either - would you trust your hair to a trainee at your local college - you can get good rates there if you are feeling brave0 -

TSL - I forgot about colleges (and hair salons) needing models.
If they get the wrong shade or you aren't happy, they have to make it good!

Oh My Gawd, I have been in that cupboard for an hour and a half?! And it's still not finished! 3 bin bags of rubbish so far!!
Waily waily waily, I have tons of shoes to sort out, rubbish to put in the car, jackets to re-home upstairs, dinner to make, living room to tidy (again), and oh... sorry, stairs have been sorted along with the cupbpoard so that's why it has taken so long. Right, chicken thighs and drums for dinner with whatever sauce I can bothered to make and tatters. Kids LOVE chicken'n'drums.
Thrifty, how about using a semi to see what you would suit? Don't go too bright though.0
