OP said something about a one hour limit being printed small on a sign on a wall. I must admit I've been there and parked there and don't know of any one hour limit.

Write to the Chairmans Office at Maplin HQ. He won't see it, but it will be read. Tell them your story: if they have any sense in these difficult economic times, they will want to look after their customers. Point out you have already told lots of people about your experiences via the internet. Bad news travels fast! They have considerable clout with the owners of the building they use. DO NOT PAY!!! The parking company will never do anything as their signs do not comply
