OS Thread - Sunday 9th November

Hi, this is the OS Daily thread for Sunday 9th November, 2008. It is an 'over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start does just as well.

Morning everyone!

MSD good luck with your new lodger. The money will come in handy. I hope your friendship isn't affected by those little niggly annoying habits that we all have but can only see in others, especially when they start living with us.
Oh don't worry annie, we have been friends for over 25 yrs now and I am continually annoyed by her niggling little habits... (as I am sure she is with mine!) *laughs*, so I imagine I am prepared for most things!! (fingers crossed)
Aussie - wooohooooo, you go girl, I totally approve of protests for important local issues.
Kaat - I thought my piccalilli recipe was on the front too but never mind, its here for next time anyone asks (this time next year no doubt!) Hope you are feeling better
Glad to hear Dylan is at least making some good progress.
Penpen - glad to hear you got back to sleep...
sistercas - hope the dough balls were delicious

Rreally enjoyed Strictly Come Dancing last night but hope John goes - I do adore him but he is a very very bad dancer! If not, I am thinking Heather or Jodie might be in danger.

My first day with my new lodger today, though by the time I surface, she may have gone out for the day I guess. She has been told she can use this puter if she is at a loose end (we don't get up til gone midday after going to bed 0430ish here) I have been extolling the virtues of this comm and am going to leave the front page up for her to see when she switches the screen on!

Been talking to my friend in America, he is a bit down tonight, but I will make him smile!! Not easy when my periods came on yesterday and all I feel like doing is crying.

Going to have a roast later today and do some baking I hope. Oh and make a trifle.

smileyhug.gifto everyone who needs them today.. Hope you all have a peaceful Sunday.

I thought only people who've 'been to bed' were allowed to post the daily?

Anyway, good morning, I can't sleep and probably won't have time to now because the boys will be up soon, nevermind

    Have a nice day everyone.
One day I might be more organised...........

    Morning peeps

i`m on my second cuppa already and i`m waiting for the wm to finish so that i can hang all the clean washing up to dry.

Yesterdays tea ended up being french bread with garlic sausage, various cheeses, crackers, pork pie pickled onions etc.
We both really enjoyed it but now i have acid which is why i woke so early :o

I am wondering what to get out of the freezer for later today, Mr Sunny is off on a fishing trip this morning and won`t be back until tomorrow night so it seems a bit of a faff to make something just for me, i may bake and live off buns and cakes until he returns :D

There are a few bits and pieces that need doing today but nothing really pressing so i may have a few hours of me time later and curl up with my book looking at the weather forecast last night that may not be such a bad idea.
I do have a few things hidden away for Christmas presents so i think that i shall seek them out and work out what else i need to buy, this year seems to be flying by so no doubt i shall be unprepared unless i get myself organised.

My cup is empty once again so i shall go and make a nice fresh cuppa.

Diva - I hope that your American friend is feeling all the better for speaking to you, i think that you are fantastic reorganising your life to support him when he needs you :A

    Catch you all later.

    Morning all,

Snowy, I'm glad to hear that things are looking a bit better for Dylan. Don't forget to look after yourself too.
Smokey, It's great that you have the bedroom finished and that you are managing to get some sleep. I hope the lurgy passes quickly and you feel better soon.
Aussie, Well done for standing up for what you believe in. If a few more people did that perhaps the world would be a better place...but did you really have to do it without your bra?

I'm afraid I haven't been to bed yet, but it's as near morning as it can be and the thread's already started so I thought I'd say 'hello'. I've had 'stuff' on my mind lately and I just can't seem to get to sleep at night so I've spent the last few nights wide awake and been next to useless and cross and grumpy during the days. :o I don't know why, but for the last four nights no matter how exhausted I feel, I just seem to get a 'second wind' come bed-time.

The good news is that I've used some of the time constructively...I've made some cards and even managed to do a bit of cleaning and baking in the wee small hours. I'm still sticking to the store cupboard challenge and we've been eating from the freezer and I still haven't had to buy anything apart from milk, fresh fruit and veg.

The best news is that dd is coming home from uni on Monday for three days :j but that could be very bad news for the store cupboard challenge because I enjoy spoiling her when she's home as she's in catered halls. On the other hand, when I asked what meals she fancied her words were, ''Mum, I want food! I don't care what it is, but please will you make me some proper food. Nothing out of a tin, nothing processed, just real food!''. So if I have to spend a bit more than I'd planned it will be worth it. :D

Perhaps it's true... more and more I'm beginning to believe the old saying that we don't miss what we've got 'till it's gone. ;)

    Have a good day everyone,

    Pink

    Morning All

Hope you are all well as I never seem to get chance to keep up with the daily thread anymore.

So far I've got the chicken in the oven for dinner and then I'm going to cook some mince for bolognaise for the freezer. Also planning on making bread and butter pudding and banana cake.

Other than that I suppose it will be the dreaded housework!

    Have a good day all

    Morning all,

Seeing as I've got a few minutes spare thought I'd post and say hello. DGS is over for the night and is downstairs with DH. He is calling me but atm I can't hear him. :D Had a baking session this morning and after lunch done more painting. Will have to do some the next few nights now. Been overcast and showery again today which has made it cooler. Having crumbed eggplant & veggie for tea.

Well.............:D the three versions I've heard about Ol Sour Puss are.
    1) Her health is not good.
    2) Her husband is a bad achololic & drinks 5 bottles of wine a night. He is mostly hung over during the day and doesn't pull his weight.
    3) They are getting separated.

I think I favour Version 2 the best. 1 & 3 are more plausible and boring while No 2 is a bit more juicy. :D What do you think?

Pink You may sleep better once you are all under the same roof. Bit like a nesting bird. :D
Diva <hugs> I get like that some months. Only lasts for a day or two though.
Well I better get moving. DGS has learnt a new word. WHY. Hope you all have a restful Sunday. <hugs> to those ill or down. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

    Morning.

Well I have been to bed and did not sleep to well. I got enough though. Looks very wet out there with all the rain we have had.

Church this morning and then home for a roast beef and puds etc. Morrisons have a good deal on roasting beef, so I might get some more and shove it away for Christmas (£2 per LB) Last day of the offer today !!!!

I think I will laze about this afternoon. I may put up a hanging clothes dryer that came from a boot sale and then think about putting some things on e-bay. There is a big pile in my office and it must go really.

    Well have a nice day

That kind of includes 1-3 for you as a bonus.;)

    Morning everyone!

Gosh, it's like Piccadilly Circus here this morning, so many people are up and about.

Very quickly and in not too much detail cos I know some people will be eating, but Dylan produced a very large present for me during the night. This is fabulous, thank you Dylan it is the best home made present ever!!:T:rotfl:

I had a look at X Factor last night - I suspect there is a bit of an internet campaign raging to get Daniel through to the end. It's a bit cruel but there are so many people who find it a hoot to wind up Simon and Louis.

Pink - you must be a wonderful cook (actually I know for a fact that you are!). Your DD obviously misses her mum and all her home comforts. I hope that whatever is on your mind gets settled and you manage to get some rest soon.

It's cold wet and windy here in N.Ireland - I was actually considering going for a walk when it's daylight, but if the weather is still like that I may have to stay in bed instead. Old Style-wise today I might shove the vacuum cleaner around upstairs and do some washing.

Bye all have a nice day.

    Snowy
