Charlie1986 wrote:Surely if they were printed wrong boots would have removed the leaflets or at least put up notices, but then how would they Know which customers had got one and which hadn't. I also find this very hard to believe :rotfl:
I suppose they could have insisted on an AC to get one and maybe then the till knows you've had a freebie?
I'm pretty sure their using us to clear their shelves - and look how much other stuff everyone is buying by going in there so often! I really don't think it matters that everyone is picking up clearance stuff and 1/4 price stuff - if that's the price they're selling at they're going to be happy that it's all shifting.
When you think about it, for the products that they don't have on promotion, the profit margins must be pretty high.0 -

I know that Trevor Sorbie is on 2 for £7 at the moment. Has anyone tried putting 2 of the reduced gift sets through. If so, do you get 2 for £7 or do they still go through at £7 each.
I tried this online but it doesn't work, I haven't tried it in store.
I bought a reduced TD hand cream at £2.50 and used the £5 voucher but it only took the £2.50 not the entire five pounds!!0 -

I'm so sorry to hear about your experience ragtimeplayer i know if it was me i would feel exactly the same and i wouldnt feel like going to boots again even though i hadnt done anything wrong.
I have been into boots quite a bit this week but never just to get the TD stuff. I only took 2 TD items (under £5) with me but also bought a lot of their gift sets (might as kill 2 birds with one stone!) so maybe thats why the sa have been ok with me ?? i have also bought the TD over £5 although only paying £2 max so again maybe thats why they havent said anything ??
As my oh said boots know what they are doing really as they are getting loads of ppl in to buy and try this stuff and then they will probably continue with it after offer has finished (well he doesnt know mser's then bless him!) and will buy offer things whilst in store.
I have only ever dared to take two TD items to the tills so perhaps the sa are getting pee'd off at ppl taking a huge advantage..oh i dont know maybe its just sour grapes!Brendan's new dance partner...please0 -
Not much TD in both city centre stores in Liverpool today. Clayton Square does have a few DR hand sets in little bag reduced to £8.50 and BOGOF, so 2 for £3.50 with a voucher.
Managed to pick up a couple of packets of wipes at small Boots on the way home....so got a small fix!!0 -
Hi. Time Delay Products £5 and under and leaflets left in the following Midlands Stores.
Nuneaton-Town centre.
Coventry-Ricoh Arena
Coventry-City Centre-Lower Precinct
Coventry-Central Six Retail.
Did a tour today but didn't take the mickey, 2 items in each store, at 2 seperate tills.
Also plenty of Daniele Ryman products (over £5) all on BOGOF if they are your thing.

I agree with Carol_a. One at a time. It will avoid drawing attention to yourself and in the long run you will be able to get more without people noticing what you are doing. When I go for one item the transaction usually happens so quickly that the SA barely have time to work out what has happened. And by doing it one at a time you are keeping the hassle down for everyone else.
Yes, you can only use one per transaction.
Yes, you can ask the SA to put all the transactions through separately.
But I don’t feel people should expect the SA to do it with pleasure especially when there is a line up. If you find one that will - great but if you don’t then it is just a case of pushing your luck too much.0 -

I agree mostly with what you are saying, however I have been getting these all week from my Barnsley shop for various relatives and also just because they are freewithout any hassle at all. I usually put through a max of three along with a couple of bits I need anyway.
Today when I went to Wakefield, the shop was virtually empty and I was the only one at the till at the time. Obviously because she took so long over each transaction, a queue formed behind me.
I only tried putting 5 through because it was so empty, I'm not daft enough to try it when the shops full!
Ultimately I agree with you, I should have done 2 at the most at any one till, good advice that I will use in the future
Maybe we have no Mse'ers in Wakefield and I was the first she came across... feel free to correct me if I am wrong and a big hello if there are any out there :jStopped smoking Jan 2007 after 23 years!Cigarettes NOT smoked = 240,945Smoke free days = 11 Years :TCash saved so far = £125,45,110 -
I am inclined to agree with jeffjeff that a lot of the wonderful deals are at least slightly calculated. I'm sure there are sometimes mistakes, but we do happen to get a lot of good deals and Boots swear that they are really pleased with their Advantage Card situation for customers. It's beyond belief sometimes, but a lot of the deals do seem to last a long time...much longer than I would imagine a deal would last if they had made a mistake and cottoned on. Even the recent Everyday Indulgence products went through at 0p for such a long time, Boots MUST have known about the issue, but it took such a long time to rectify. And even after changing the price, we were getting an amazing deal on the range... Maybe I'm wrong and it takes days to put things right, but I'd be surprised!
ragtimeplayer, my wife doesn't like to work through these kind of deals for exactly the reasons you were stating. None of the situation was your fault, but you were made to feel small and in the wrong. Don't worry about it and just let the whole thing go. It may be worth putting in a complaint (anonymous or not), but you need only go as far as you feel you need to go. If complaining would cause you more upset or prolong the bad feeling, it might not be worth worrying about it. And hopefully you'll feel good knowing that at least you did pick up some freebies anyway! Hopefully you'll be happy to go grab some more very soon. Best of luck!
And it's not unusual to see a different side to someone you thought was friendly enough. Several years ago, when I was new to the Advantage Card and had never used my points as payment, I used a cashier that had served me quite a few times before. I put two items through (just 2 items!) and when I asked to pay with points on my card, she sighed loudly. I was told that you have to tell them before the transaction that you wish to pay with points. Once the cashier had put the two items through again, she quietly said (with a false smile), "You know, it's people like you who hold up everyone else and make our job take twice as long."
I'm still amazed at myself for not having loudly demanded to see a supervisor after being spoken to like that (especially as I like to shop cheerfully and know what rubbish a lot of cashiers and supervisors have to go through when they work in shops). Anyhoo, I never saw that cashier again, so who knows what happened after that outburst???0 -
just been to one of my local stores put 2 TD products through at 1 till tried to get the £1 off no 17 lippy but she refused saying not on reduced stock, tried to pay for 2 reduced no 7 lippy and nail varnish sets with my no 7 voucher again she refused asked her to try to sacn and again she refused  and she tried to keep my voucher until i reminded her
anyway wandered over to another till to put 2 more through stopped on the way to look at somthing when i got to the other till she was tipping offer the other girl to "what i was up to" !!!!cheeky cow, manager came as was very pleasant and read TD terms and then said she would allow the TD stuff through but that the idea was 1 leaflet per customer.....so my parting shot to a miffed SA was...well boots should state that in their T&C then  wont be going back there in a hurry0
