I get annoyed as i too have noticed that some people are getting really good bargins, yet when I went in my local Boots yesterday I picked up a couple of the items mentioned and they were not reduced further as other people have got.
i totally agree i bought a simpsons fridge with sweets in for £4.00, the next day i went into another boots store where they had it for £1.00!!!
i was totally gutted because my mum threw the reciept out and i couldn't get my money back for it and buy the cheaper one!
the prices should all be the same or it just not fair on everybody!!!0 -
i think it depends on stock levels in the store....
for example this gift set
is £5 on the website, and £5 in the big out of town boots. However in the local boots it's £2.50 as they have 6 shelves of these!!!!:A Boots Tart :A0 -

You could be right but I am not 100% convinced. Becaues in the first Boots I went to after the second round of price reductions last week. They had the cafteria sets for £3.75 but only had 2 or 3 boxes of them.
I think it is down to the manager and if thinks the locals will pay for it or not. What is called I believe price flexing which is what some supermarkets do. Rather then charging the same all over the country they charge that the local market is willing to pay. I belive that Sainsburys/Tescos/Somerfield/kwiksave use to do or still do this. And Morrisons and Asda use not to or still don't.
But still not fair. I should be able to walk in to any Boots the length or bredth(sp?) of the country and buy the same goods at the same prices even if it is christmas reduced stock. Other stock that is reduced that is another matter.

Price elasticity (this is what it was called when i studied business 3 years ago) is good or bad depending on how poor your area is.
i had a terrible time at university, as i lived in an expensive part of town, finchley road in north london and sainsburys would charged loads as everyone was well off and it was the only supermarket nearby. I'd normally have to take a half hour bus to tescos in brent cross in order to afford anything.
my parents however live in east london where living is quite cheap, and in my town centre there are 2 boots, 2 superdrugs, one bodyshop etc. etc. so everything is pretty cheap :T
for example i use nivea body cream (the white bottle stuff) and its normally 4 or 5 pounds, but i can go to Savers to get it for £3 or I can go to Wilkinsons and get it for £3 etc etc:A Boots Tart :A0 -

this is my first post on here!
thanks very much for this post
Me and my mum have been getting a few here and there!
In the Huntingdon store- there are some leaflets left but no products £5
In the St Ives store- there a few leaflets but no products under £5
In the St Neots store- there are a few leaflets left and a few products under £5
I can't find any aromatherapy candles in any of those stores and none of the aromatherapy range are reduced! which i'm very sad about!
The christmas things are reduced but still quite high prices, not as low as some of you seem to be getting them!!!

Read back through all messages since last night - thanks to everyone for support & advice, have been back to Boots this morning, couldn't pluck up courage to go to same store, but drove to one miles away took daughter, she was thrilled to get 2 DR blemish sticks for £3 & I got TD handcream free didn't like to try more than once. They have taken BOGOF sign down from DR stuff but when asked was still on.0

Glad you had another go & a good result! I think it's always best to be 'reasonable' about the amount you get - that way your less likely to draw attention to yourself & don't get in a panic - this happens to me if I try and do more than two & I always end up missing an over-charge or loose a glove or something in an atempt to just get out quickly!!0 -

Its been years since I did business studies GCSE and A Level. But I am sure that it was called price flexing in the book called supermarket wars I read recently.
But hey what do I know.
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But if the same fair price is charged to all low or high income areas. That is better for all.
But as I said I believe that Asda nor Morrisons do this. And they still keep low prices and make a profit.

If people had been discreet and not cleared the shelves and put a zillion transactions through at one time then Boots would not be taking this stand.
So again it is the few that has ruined it for the many by being selfish.
I assume it is one per customer using a voucher to get a free or very cheap as TD is on 3-4-2 and DR is bogof.

it was only ever gonna be on for a month anyway i dont feel sorry for boots that the shelves were cleared i hope that when they stock up theyll all be cleared once again coz they take so much money eveeryday and im a really loyal customer so why shuld i feel bad?
i urge eveyone to take the pee!:T The best things in life are FREE! :T0 -
Here here, if they don't like people using the voucher then they shouldn't have started the promotion!
i am sure we all spend enough in there normally to warant a few free gifts!0
