So, if it makes you feel better, I have my £10K A&L overdraft stooz in my Egg 6.30% account. As you will know, overdrafts are repayable on demand...and I'm not concerned at all by Egg's removal of their savings page - even though Citigroup's shares fell by over 10% at one stage today. Oh no!!! Now I've made things worse!
I really didn't want to know that!!!!!“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Just be careful to check their FAQ page first, because you need to use different details from those used for BACS.Really? Are you saying a transfer initiated on Monday morning wouldn't arrive as cleared (for onward transfer by debit card) funds on Wednesday...meaning you would only lose interest for Monday/Tuesday?
I have to transfer out of B&B to via my linked account (not Egg). A safety feature I'm quite reassured about.
I think the days you both withdraw and deposit on accounts you don't earn interest. This means I'd lose interest on Mon, Tues & Wed. Also the remote risk of Egg not allowing deposits into the 6.3% account any longer would cost me about £700 over the year if I to leave it in B&B which I guess will be dropping to around 4%.
On this occasion I think CHAPS is worth paying for. I think I've almost convinced myself....
p.s.Citigroup are now only down 7% today. Investors have obviously read this forum and heard about my deposit..0 -

Lets get a bit of perspective as well.
Citigroup (owner's of Egg) are, arguably, the world's biggest bank (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citigroup).
If they fall over every other bank would probably follow, so you'd be no better off anywhere else.
I'm sure I've convinced myself now..... :beer:0 -
