Sorry, didnt realise it had already been said. Surely the drop is more than 1.5%, the variable rate is now 4.5% and was 6.55% (2.05% drop) and the fixed rate is 4% and was 6.3% (albeit from a few weeks ago). As far as I can see its only the ISA thats dropped by 1.5%. May be wrong though!0

Libor has dropped over 2% in the last month.
Citi shares rose today even though the sp500 fell, they were down 15% or so at one point yesterday. 1.3 million shares were bought by managers apparently0 -

No, the 6.55% account is now 5.05% and the 6.3% is still 6.3% until the introductory period expires at which point it will become 3.25%, the current basic rate paying account which in itself has reduced from 4.75%. So as you see, it's 1.5% cuts all round“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Terrible news for those affected, but probably good news for the long term viablity of the bank. I'm putting more money into Egg this afternoon, no worries...:cool:0 -

Oh well, better to know!
I'd just opened one every month with only a pound in, just to have it for when the offer expired.. but shouldn't have thought I was clever clearly!
Strange that it says that one is not allowed to open more than one of these accounts, as they clearly did allow me to open them.0 -

I get very twitchy when I hear any negative news, cos all my money's in Egg.
I know we're covered for 50k, but I guess it would be quite a lot of hassle to get the money back.
