TK Maxx - Minimum Customer Service!

I purchased a pair of Bearpaw boots from their Walsall store 8/9/08 these were discounted from around £80 to £39.99....so were not a cheap pair. I have recently given birth to a bouncing baby girl 27/8/08 so, it is clear, I was not up to running marathons. I returned the boots to the Walsall store and spoke to the customer service manager 31/10/08...the boots had worn through completely to holes on both heels and were wearing very thin on both soles. I explained that the boots had been worn for approximately 15 days (I have other shoes and I also have a newborn....this does require that I stay at home most days!!) and that to have worn through in such a short space of time was not acceptable. I explained that I did not have a receipt but had a bank statement detailing purchase......I was then told, very rudely, that the CSmanager could not be bothered looking this up as it would take more than 10 minutes of his time. The CSmanager then went on to state that he did not believe that the boots had been worn for only 15 days and that he was not prepared to give a refund!!!! He stated when questioned on what grounds he was not prepared to offer a refund that the fault was not a manufacturing one.
TK Maxx - i suggest you provide better informed and less rude customer service. I will take this even further!

I've had problems with TK Maxx in the past too.

When you buy footwear or clothing, it must be of satisfactory quality, fit for its purpose and as described.
Remember, if you are entitled to a refund, replacement, repair or compensation, it is the trader who must sort out your problem.0 -
Thanks. I think more stores with poor customer service should be named and shamed....this way, they might stop their bullying tactics and abuse of consumer law!!!0

Can you blame him for not believing you,it sounds unlikely.0
-
I couldnt blame him for not beleiving me if I didnt have the proof of purchase by way of a bank statement in my hand.....which he could not be bothered, by his own admission, to look up purchase made on that date....which, incidentally is very possible. I also think that wearing through in approx 15 days is rediculous........which is the reason I returned the item.
Just because the goods are unbelievably and rediculously faulty doesn't mean we should put up with rude and substandard service!!!0 -
Bank statements are not proof of purchase, thats like buying £200 of shopping (food) in tesco then trying to return a TV without a receipt saying oh heres my bank statement.
Bank statements don't detail purchases
Its an unlikely story you have come out with, plus doesn't TKMAXX have a 14 day return policy now?0 -

Not sure if this varies from store to store but my local one certainly does. Bought some boots this week and it quite clearly says it at the bottom of the receipt.0 -

But for fautly goods its different there is no 14 days return policy for something which is faulty.2012 wins! can of deodorant, a personalised Bean, craft show tickets, Top Gear Live Tickets, Case of sourz fusion0 -
this is precisely why i only ever buy clothes from charity shops..... i hate tk maxx, primark, matalan, burtons, etc etc.. at least if you buy from oxfam, you know what you're getting.. and if its faulty charity shops rarely argue.... if indeed you are stingy enough to ask them for a refund!! why help the big capitalists.. charity shops are greener and more moral.....0

Playing the old misuse card here, you can bash shoes alot in "15 days"0

Actually a bank statement would be considered as acceptable proof of purchase if it went to court. A retailer should be able to verify from their records what the purchase was.0
