  • I'm sure you're right that many business owners don't know the site exists. I'm equally sure business owners don't know Qype exists, or Dooyoo, or Ciao, or whatever the others are called.

I don't know what mechanism they have in place to ensure the honesty of the reviews, but neither do I know what mechanisms the other sites have in place. I don't know the legal issues either - I'm sure the review site administrators will have looked into that side of things. I think review sites are basically a good idea, and they do help me if I want to know more about an organisation or a product.

I guess, and this is just a guess, that the best way to ensure honesty is for lots of people to write the reviews of the same place and then readers can read a selection of reviews and make their own mind up if one person simply has a grudge.

I quite agree with all your points. I have been a member of bView since the end of August.. did my first 100 reviews and got my amazon vouchers and then forgot about the site to be honest, as real life got in the way. Then I had a mail asking me if I wanted to earn some money with them and so I got back into it. Earnt a nice amount in October and November, and the cheques arrived within days of the months ending.

Yes, you need to write around 200 words, and they like pics if possible, but I have found them all very friendly and helpful. Plus you can earn 30p a review this month and that soon adds up.

As for honesty etc, I personally think that the more reviews a person does, the more you can see whether they are basically writing positively or negatively about businesses. I try always to find something positive as businesses generally do not go out of their way to give bad service, but if it IS bad, then I will be honest. Equally if I go back and find things have improved, I can leave a comment to say as much.

Every review site relies on members of the public and their opinions, so the more reviews about a business that are written, the broader the experience of that place becomes to anyone interested in that business/company/shop.

Sorry to write such a long post, but I have been writing reviews for two months now and haven't run out of places to review yet. Plus I love writing so it's fun.

So why not give it a go? - Not only are you earning a little money, if they like your reviews and you are writing the correct number of words etc, you can work your way up to earn more per review.

By the way - if you want to join, please p.m. me and I can invite you - I get £1 if you do that and write your first review. If you do not wish me to gain from your joining then the link to bView itself is HERE.

Actually, Samina wants reviews of 200 words. She told me so.

Samina is usually very quick to respond - I signed up in November and when I sent her a message I think it was only a few hours before I got a reply.

Bear in mind that this time of year will probably be very busy so she might have missed your message or just not read it yet. I'd leave it another day or 2 and then if you still haven't had a reply send her a (polite) message relaying what you had originally said in case she'd missed it.

Oh right, well that's no problem, as they were mostly over 200 words anyway, it's just that's not what it says on the site?

I know - it's just what she told me when she asked me if I was interested. * shrug *

I would think it would be hard to say something in the format that BView are after in only 100 words, as they have separate sections for advantages and disadvantages - it would be a short section indeed if you only had 50 words per.

    Cheers
