I'd love to do a mothers day hamper for my fantastic mother in law - but she's very difficult to buy for. She has heaps of smellies in the bathroom that rarely seem to get used. She's only 51 and loves going out socialising. Apart from that her interest seems to be scifi type progs such as battlestar etc - told you she was a tough one! It's not very MSE but I was thinking maybe a luxury type hamper with a piece of jewellery and bottle of perfume in there? Maybe some nice slippers? I dont want to get her a load of stuff she wont use and she is a brilliant mum in law.

  • Hi Guys and Girls, i'm a noobie here and trying to find my feet in the wonderful world of MSE. This thread may have been posted before but i cant seem to find it.

Myself and OH are trying to put together a baby hamper, and So far i have got as far as to ordering a few free samples to kick start things off. But i cant seem to find a nice looking hamper to place things in, And on the net they charging around £25.99 for one of the most common looking wicker ones. So would it be cheaper for me to make one myself at home or just buy one and make it look professional?

All or any help with this would be great as i really haven't got a clue where to start this off from?

Many thanks for reading and hopfully i will hear from you MSE'S soon xx

(grr just replied to this and laptop ate it)

    Something along the lines of..

To buy one of the traditional hampers would be expensive IME, I just buy a cheaper basket (do you have a 99p store near to you, they have decent sized ones). If you shred some tissue to fill it and some cello wrap from e-bay and nice ribbon, you can do an amazing job at a fraction of the price of ready made ones

Or maybe consider doing something like a nappy cake (search on here)

It gets addictive though, be warned!!

Good luck and welcome to MSE

    Hey Guys,

My gran was thrilled with her hamper so much so she looked as though she might cry. None of her children made any effort like she thought they would. It appears that only I made the effort.

Unfortuantly I have not got a picture as my camera was not working.
