Rainmac they look fantastic ;) well done ... I saw them buckets when I was with bunbun .... price was right ;) .... I wish I had got some now as I nipped in locally to home bargains on way home from Bunbun and they had none at mine!!! ah well I didn't really *need them*

Finefoot, could you register with your local freecycle and ask if anyone has any wedding magazines they no longer need??
you could apply to a couple of companys asking for samples a lot of places do free samples of their stationary etc? ... I know studio does
you could do a journal in a jar for her but with weddingy type questions then she has the journal for wedding ideas aswell

Rainmac - loving the Easter buckets which look fab!!

Rusty - thanks for the response about registering for local freecycle for the wedding mags - that hadn't even occurred to me but great idea!!

No thankyou ... I am under strict orders I must not spend any more money in there for now :rotfl: probably has something to do with the fact I was walking round the metro centre yesterday and kept spending his money :rotfl: ... I would have had a few more of those mugs though at 39p!!!

I love them and am very jealous as we don't have a home bargains and I want one
we're going to Birmingham later in the year is there one there does anyone know ??

There's 5 in the Birmingham area, according to the website.
    http://www.homebargains.co.uk/
They don't have any near London, but my Mum works near the one in Stroud(Glos), so whenever I see a bargain mentioned, I ask her to check in her local for me. And whenever I visit, as soon as she picks me up from the station, I'm asking "Can we quickly pop into Home Bargains?" :rotfl:
    £20 later....
But they sell some great stuff there.

I went to the Walsall one a couple of weeks ago on the way up to Warrington and in the same retail park is an Argos clearance shop (Clearance Bargains), which could be good, depending on what you're after, an Instore(didn't go in as they were closing-made sure I went to HB first!) and the HB. Picked up some hand warmers in there for 69p-like these-http://www.prezziesplus.co.uk/gadgets/hotstuff-hand-warmer.html
Thought they'd be good in hampers. My mum got the U2 hardback book for 99p, and I've heard they have the Mamma Mia book for 99p. Saw it in Zavvi for £2.50, so glad I'd heard HB had it cheaper or I would've bought it in there.

They also had mini bottles of Champers (20cl) for 89p. No idea what it tastes like as I'm not keen on champagne, but they would be good in hampers with some glasses.

    Hi All

I just wanted to say hello and thank you all for your many ideas. I didn't find this thread (and the thread with the finished baskets pictures) until January, and this christmas 2009 will be the first one where I make baskets as family gifts.

I am already on the lookout for bargains, and I have made a start with some Boots No7 bits and pieces using the £5 No7 vouchers. Beauty baskets for my sisters in law will be easy, but a basket for my Mother in law, who doesnt wear makeup, is allergic to most skincare, and doesnt drink will be much trickier.

But... I have months to find stuff, because if I made them a basket and not her, I would have a mini riot on my hands. lol.

Anyway, thanks for all your ideas and guidance, and I guess I will be seeing you all on here more and more. :T
    Aims for 2014
Drink a glass of water a day, Empty handbag at least once a week, Continue "not putting things off" and tackle things head on, Treasure people around me, Stay healthy and well away from hospitals, Continue to declutter/decorate house slowly and not get stressed because I can't do everything at once. :D

Just posted these pics on the handmade Easter thread but then thought I probably shouldn't cos I haven't exactly 'made' the presents - just put chocolate into buckets so thought I'll post the pics here...

    IMGP3077.jpg

Buckets were 50p each from Home Bargains (59p each or 2 for £1). Thanks for the info and pics on these threelittlepigs :T
Mini Malteser eggs x 2 bags - can't remember where I got these from but they were on offer...?
Cadbury's Creme Eggs £1.49 for 6 from Home Bargains
Marshmallow eggs 25p each from Home Bargains
Malteser bunnies from Asda 59p each I think?
Cadbury Egg Heads eggs £1.50 fr the 2 Tesco

Going to use the buckets for an egg hunt/ treasure hunt on Easter Sunday.

I had to wrap these up straight away so me and OH (ok, I really mean ME ) don't get tempted to start eating the eggs :rotfl:

    they look absolutely fab:T
