tilly-roo, how about buying your dad some flavoured coffee syrups? Whittards do a few including a yummy Gingerbread one! You could also add some chocolate coated coffee beans too?

I order quite a lot from boots.com and it always comes packaged with reams of scrunched up brown paper - i always use meticulously fold in up and the scruch it yp again in the botton of hampers.

I got a Lush set last year and it was bulked up with popcorn - although no too sure about that one.

I have also used screwed up newspaper covered in tissue which was ok.

I find brown paper best tbh; its sturdy enough for a fair amount of weight; you can properly achour bits; and it looks resonably proffesional.

Great, thank you for that! Thank you for everybody's ideas - I knew I could get help here!:j

Hi - I'm totally new to this but started making my first lot of hampers today!! Have completed 7 today!! Just need the finishing touches such as the cellophane and ribbons. Anyway, I've got quite a few deep-ish baskets and have discovered a good way to fill them up today - we shred just about everything in this house so I'm using that shredded paper - putting it into cheap white bin bags and then covering it with either one sheet of coloured tissue paper or where I've got coloured paper to shred I've used that to cover up the bin bag - really easy & free!!!! YAY!!!
    :T :j HTH!!

    Great idea! Thanks!

Thank you, I will have a look in Matalan :)

There is no QD near me.

Just to say that I went to Matalan last week and although they didn't have the clapperboard they did have a pot painted like a clapperboard with popcorn etc inside - really nice - I'll try and upload a photo when I get a chance - they were £8 but they had 3for2 offer on so can get it cheaper!

Ok, I've finished all my shopping, then my Grandma asked if I could do hers, as she can't get into the shops much, but now my Dad has asked what he can buy my mum! So, I've shopped for my mum twice already, which was hard enough, but what can my Dad get for his ex-wife??? Her birthday is New Years day, so I need ideas for that too.
She's in her early 50s, loves cross stitch, travelling, shopping and finding bargains! Thought a hamper would be good, as my Dad tends to give gifts on a theme anyway.
Any ideas? My brain has had enough! I just can't seem to think of anything...
As a fellow cross stitcher, I would say I love to receive anything stitch related. As the kits can be a little expensive, how about a storage box (either a sewing basket or just lidded box depending on what she already has) gold needles, embroidery scissors, fabric, check out charity shops and ebay for cross stitch books and how about a years subscription to a cross stitch magazine.

    Morning bunbun and all :)

There's a pic that I posted on th old thread of those sewing baskets (£1.99) if that's any good to anyone? Click here for pics: #5924 I didn't see any kits though.

Not sure if they still have any as the post is a bit dated now, but worth a look? hth :)
