not entirely sure from the wording of your question what your current setup is?

The Pavilion ZV6100 has built in wireless capability so enabling the hardware radio switch should detect your existing wireless network?

Probably need more info as to what your existing setup is

If, as chuckles1066 said, the Pavilion ZV6100 has built-in wireless and you have Windows XP, you should just be able to turn on the wireless switch somewhere on the chassis of the laptop and then go into the connection properties and find your wireless connection.

Presuming you have Windows XP on the laptop:
    1. Turn on Wireless transmitter switch on laptop.
    2. Switch laptop on and go to Start, Control Panel, Network and Internet Connections, Network Connections.
    3. Double-click the Wireless Connection and then find the place where you can pick the wireless network you want.
    4. Once you find the screen where you pick which wireless network you want, pick your wireless network and click Connect.
    5. If it requires it, enter the encryption key and press OK. (May not be necessary depending on setup)
    6. Connection should now be connected and you should just be able to go straight into Internet Explorer and onto the web via the wireless broadband connection.

I hope this helps. tigermatt :)

You will need to get the network key from your wireless setup as it is unique to your setup. It is most likely in the router configuration interface.

yep, if you're using WPA-PSK security it'll be (or should be) a 63 character passphrase.

If you're using WEP encryption, at some point you'll have had to input a passphrase which would have generated 4 64 or 128-bit hex keys.........you need to know at which one your router is pointing..........type that in and you should be up and running!

I've just been through all of this. What router do you have?

The wireless key is an encryption key to prevent other hardware from using your wireless network. All machines on the network need the same key. It's just a "password" that you set. You need to find the configuration screen for your router.
Our Belkin unit configures by typing 192.168.2.1 into internet explorer and using the set up screens that result.
