I wasnt trying to make a point about the taxation system in the states the point i was trying to make is they tend to have prices on their tags without the tax and you only see what the tax is at the till.

Regardless of the £8 they charge people still have the choice, its not a stealth payment, you need to press the accept/purchase button to continue if you dont like it back away and go elsewhere. So would people be happier if all flights were £8 more and they charged no fees for card useage, for selfish reasons I wouldnt be happ with it, but even if they did bundle the price up they would still be a darn sight cheaper than other airlines, consider a recent trip to berlin for £20 per person return, a trip in feb to porto for £20 each, ive been to a dozen+ places thanks to ryanair, and each time paid less for my ticket than I would have paid to get a train into london, and im only 35miles away.

    all the best

I agree with sturll, a) it is a rip off and b) they should be more up front about it.

Its obviously up to them what they charge and its up to me to buy or not, but just because I have a choice about buying or not, doesn't mean its not a rip off.

Even on ebay the people who charge rip off postage fees have to display it up front.

I have just paid for my mum, dad and eight of their friends to fly to Belfast, and fly back again. They had a great day, no problems, no delays. Total cost including their hand luggage, booking fee etc - 20p (YES, TWENTY PENCE). It cost one of them 400 times more for the bus fare to/from the airport, than the return flight cost. (A 10 minute bus ride)! Now that is value.
A 10 minute bus ride cost one of them 400 times more than a 20p return flight? That would be £80 return. Blimey.

    There you go.

They decide what to charge and you decide whether or not to use the service.

    Not a rip off .

And how much more upfront do you want them to be?

It is not as if just after you have bought the tickets they say "got you - extra charge that you didn't know about has been added to your bill"

Don't like it don't use it.
If that still bothers you then write to them and ask how they justify their charges?

Just don't come on here and say "rip-off"

    @ mymatebob, you're talking rubbish....

Why are you saying I can't call it a rip off....

Would you say me selling my 25 year old black and white tv for £10,000 was a rip off? Of course its a rip off, but by your weird mindset, if you have a choice about buying it its automatically not a rip off.

Newsflash, just because someone has a choice about buying something or not, doesn't mean they aren't allowed to think its a rip off - unless you are joining up to the thought police...

Have you never said "i'm not buying that, its a rip off".... well thats exactly what i'm saying about Ryanairs debit card charge, therefore TO ME it is a rip off.

No they just advertise flights for 99p and then whack on taxes, fees etc... Its wrong!

I might sell my house for 1p and when people have viewed and say they want to buy I will tell them that they also have to pay £124,999.99 fees.....

To be fair a £32 charge for using a debit card is an unreasonable charge ,( how many people here rant at banks for their charges ) ok the flight is still very cheap , but really arent Ryanair just disguising the cost of the flight by building in extra costs ? because its in it terms and conditions doesnt stop it from being slightly dodgy in my books ( I dont like the term rip off ).

Whoever mentioned about using the search button , if everyone did that there would be no new threads lol , after all surely almost everything on this site has been asked before
    exactly.

q's asked loads of times in respect of ryair's business model.

I've learnt to accept the way ryair operates. I don't like it, (which is why I don't use them).

the smugness/sarcasm/vitriol from some replies to a newbie (assuming there's no troll nonsense) isn't really helpful.

or is it some of you enjoy bullying?

It was not a 20p return flight. It was a 2p return flight. There were ten people. I said the total cost was 20p. Not per person.

10 people at 2p return = 20p. ;) but I should have said 400 times more than a one way flight, or 200 times more than a return flight. Either way, a bargain :)

No I don't say things are a rip off I decide whether a thing is good value or not.

If the flight from Ryanair is good value after I have paid for the flight, taxes, baggage etc etc then it can in no way be considered a rip off.

And I would not buy your old TV at that price as to me it would not represent good value.

As long as they were aware of that up front they would know what they were getting into. Not as if the Ryaniar charge is hidden

You may not like the way they break down their charges but it is not a unique business model

If it troubles you that much - don't use them
