Hi ts_aly2000,
Don't let yourself get too stressed about this. I'ts obviously a fault somewhere. You problem you actually have is that your account issues haven't been escalated to laevel where someone with a brain can see that. You are just speaking to the idiot who can only read off a script.
I'd suggest paying what YOU estimate your usage to be, maybe mirror last quarters + 10%.
This will get resolved, just a matter of time.
p.s I wouldn't phone them again unless you can find a number for a actual senior in the company. Stick to letter writing, it's a bit of a pain but much more use in the long run.

did this get resolved ?0

I also wondered what the outcome was, its such a shame that people don't leave a follow up report after asking for advice etc. surely its the least they could do?:rolleyes:When man sacrifices the Love of POWER for the Power of Love, there will be peace on earth.0

get GMTV on the case they will sharp shift their backsides...they wont like publicity...as for your big bill.....thats just impossible...obviously a big mistake on thier behalf...I hope you get this sorted!!!
Althouhg i agree that releasing the bill was a big mistake i think you should at least give them a chance to fix it first!
(ok so the sending-a-meter-reader-to-do-a-technician's-job thing was pretty dumb too, but at leas tthey're getting the right person out now)
I'm guessing that it's either a meter fault or that someone has screwed up, though if you rememebr the connection read being 00000 then something really dodgy is going on.
Call EDF and ask them to check how many digits your read should be, cos if they're being sent a five digit read by the metering agents and your meter is actually only four digits (i've seen this happen) then it'll be artificially inflating your bill.
6789 versus 67891, ten times more usage than otherwise.
And don't be put off if they say you can't. You can. If they don't know how get them to call the metering agents and find out.
Word of warning over the dispute that's holding the debt while it's investigated, depending on their specific procedures and the type of hold placed it is possible that the hold will automaticaly be removed by the computer and you'll get another debt collection letter.
It shouldn't happen, but if it does, phone them and get them to hold it again.0 -
If the truth were known, I think the OP has since discovered that he left his TV in "standby" and is now too embarrassed to admit it !! :rotfl: :rotfl:0
