Fantastic - I've booked 'free' flights to Dublin from Luton in January (a weekend too) for £39.71 - no cabin bags. I just hope the airport check in is simple as I've not done that before.somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0

.
Does anyone have experience of taking hold baggage/case (to 15kg) through check in after having pre booked "0 bags & On-line check in"? (Cabin bag only & web book-in). Due to change of mind/circumstances or whatever?
And any problems or not please?
Although ryanair regs. Do state hold baggage can not (obviously) be taken through with an on-line check-in booking.
It does appear, so far as I can tell, that it should be possible to book any "overweight' bags through providing booking desk is still open" and paying the appropiate baggage & check-in charge. (+ cc or dd card charge again. Avoided if have Electron card?).
Thanks.

The cost of hold baggage checked in at the airport is £16 per bag per journey rather than £8 per bag if booked online...

Thank you Edinburghlass.
I have already seen the charges. But appreciate your answer anyway.
My question actually is. Is there any reason hold baggage can't be checked through the normal check-in, (and paid for).
If on-line check in (cabin bag & no book in fee) have already been pre purchased?
(Although sorry perhaps not put very clearly).

i took up the advise of someone on this forum with regard to a taking out a Post Office Travel Card (Visa Electron) just for ryanair. It must have been one of the best finds I've had this year.
It took less than 30 mins to go down to a post office with my passport to get a card and I was booking the flights as soon as I got back. Goodbye stupid ryanair card fees!0 -
Also I discovered that non EU people can't use web check in.
It happens that my girlfriend is American living in UK. Did a bit of research and basically found out that she can claim the airport check charges back if the sole reason that she couldn't use web check in was because of her nationality. i.e. if you need to check lugguage in then you don't qualify as thats another reason you can't use web check in. She's off with me to Germany next month with just hand lugguage so she'll be able to make a claim. Its actually in their small print too.
So if anyone else is non EU out there, hope this helps.0 -

Thanks.
Penny only just dropped doh! I looked at the chart, as I did also before booking. But failed to notice the increased difference when paying at the airport and on-line. Whada mistake to make! Looks like we'll be travelling lighter than I thought!
We've travelled fairly regularly with easyjet & ryanair more or less since they started. But it is the first time I've not booked baggage through check-in beforehand. And used no charge 'On-line Check In'. It didn't help a whole lot that when I tried to book 'On-line Check In' for myself and a checked in case for my wife, (or vice-versa). My booking was rejected and was told that I would have to make two separate bookings! Along with the risk that I might have finished up with a flight for only one! .
I guess I can add that to life's learning curve, the hard way!

I can recommend the Residencial Grande Rio. It's a seven minute walk up a gently sloping hill from the centre, in a slightly shabby (but perfectly safe) area. The guy who owns it is lovely and and the breakfast choice is brilliant. Book direct, it's 40 euros for a double and 10% autumn discount.

45 minutes on the urbano train from Sao Bento to Braga gets you to Bom Jesus, one of the most beautifully set churches, at the top of 600 stairs up the side of a valley. There's a bar at the top for great vista watching.
If you know nothing about Port, don't bother with the tourist warehouses, head to Vinologia on rua sao joao as it's a bar with lovely atmosphere, softly playing jazz music and staff who can introduce you to port and leave you to enjoy it which is nice. I can recommend the chocolate covered figs they see there too.0
