  • I'm with 3 with two contracts and never had a problem
  • I've been with them for 5 years, other than an inability to get a cheap upgrade deal out of them (which says more about my negotiating skills than anything!) I have no complaints. They even phoned me to check if I wanted to move to a cheaper rolling contract after my last fixed term expired. The customer service has come on a lot since the early days.

The network coverage is great everywhere that I've been, and the data speeds are very good. You can try out one of their 1 month rolling SIMs first to see if the coverage etc is good enough for you. Go thru TCB to get one and it'll practically be free mobile for a month.
  • T-Mobile and 3 have been sharing 3g since 2010 so they do have the best 3g coverage in UK. What 3 don't want you to know is that they are cutting the 2g signal (using Orange) in areas where they think have good coverage. I have been left without a mobile signal on many occasions as a result of 3's logic.

The breaking point came when I missed two very important phone calls and voice messages. 3g is not very good at penetrating buildings!

Beware. I'd rather put up with slower transfer speeds on T-Mobile/Orange with 2G and 3G coverage than risk using 3.
  • I love my HTC Desire HD phone on "The One Plan". I am able to stream videos, including BBC Iplayer, and manage large amounts of data using Dropbox without any problems - or extra cost. Coverage is fine - I can use Google navigation satnav up and down the motorway network - with the novelty of having the map displayed in satellite view all the way.

The best thing yet is that I don't need a land line in the holiday flat we've just bought in Weymouth. With HTC Portable Hotspot enabled, I've set up a TP Link range extender in another room plugged into a Devolo powerline adapter which enables the internet on a LG Smart TV via another powerline adapter, and also enables a wireless printer in another room and provides internet access to two laptops and a tablet thoughout the flat! Everything works via my 'phone - even streaming BBC Iplayer, YouTube etc. on the telly.

This set up is saving me about two thirds the cost of the Three contract by not having to sign up to the likes of BT Internet with a land line - genuine MSE stuff! :money:
  • I don't think would I have a contract with "3" due to the truly dreadful customer service.

My few brushes with customer service have resulted in interminable calls with very nice people in India who don't seem able to get what I want and do it.

Network for data the best I've found.

For calls, generally poor inside buildings compared with Vodafone or o2.

    There is no perfect answer.

Absolutely awful customer service, I would never have a contract with them again.

I've had dealings with them in the last month - I certainly wouldn't say it's improved (and if it has, it must have been non existent preciously!)
  • I have been with them for 3 years, always a hassle if you need to call CS , any simple conversation with them takes about 40-50 minutes

Receptions was ok ... until last week when I had no signal at home for 5 days on both phones in London, so not the middle of nowhere !!! I called them and the offered to reimburse the days without signal...

So based on the last experience I would not recommend, I think 5 days without signal is too much for "unplanned works"
  • No issue here; great coverage in the Midlands, and the internet is noticeably faster than when I was on o2. No idea re: CS, I'm a payt user; although the call to arrange the port in was quickly answered by a very friendly chap who was thorough in explaining the port process.

I've been with Three since May and I've had no issues with coverage or customer service.

The one time I have had to contact customer services (because of slow internet which turned out to be due to a faulty transmitter) they were very good.

Ive been with them for 7 years, have never had any major problems with them to be honest. Their Indian call centres are a pain, but have never had any problems with the network
Debt free and staying that way!
