Excellent post Guy. I've pointed out a few times recently myself about the failing state of the E7 network, not because I'm a customer (I'm with Zen), but because I've felt that it was unfair for refferals to be promoted when E7 were offering such an abysmal service (another big E7 thread on the refferal board, but it's against the rules to link to it from other boards on this site).
I've been watching the complaints mount up at the adslguide forums over the last few months, and I've wanted people to be aware of what they are letting themselves in for before they commit 1 or 2 years money. I've been shouted down for doing this in the past.
I didn't believe that E7 could do any worse than they have been recently, they have proved me very wrong on this point. They've turned this network split into a complete farce!
I've got to say thanks to Mike. Comparing E7 to Zen gave me the biggest laugh I've had for a long time. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Ok Rex, thanks for the heads up on the other thread.
I, also, was amazed at the complacency of e7even regarding these network changes. They don't appear to be too bothered that some people have struggled for months on a poor connection, only to be placed on something equally as poor.
Mike's comments were funny, but he made them at an unfortunate time, and there is a danger that some people might even believe him.
I'm not a regular 'round here, as you may have guessed
Perhaps folk may pay a little more attention to what you have to say from now on.
Good Luck ...0 -
Thanks for dropping in Guy (?), certainly squares with my experience - has been adequate for surfing etc, but only hit full speed during the day (less contention I suppose). Haven't been able to connect to e7broadband for a few days now (was ok for around 36 hours after I was switched over) and the 0800 dial-up provided during the changes has been a bit flaky today.
Fortunately I'm near the end of the contract - I reckon I've had my moneys-worth so far, but looks a bit dodgy for signing on again (Rex gave us a run-down of the economics a while back).0 -
Been with them since September and they have been OK for me , this week end however especially Saturday has been really impossible. We know they are currently changing their systems.
Can the experts tell us. AM I right in thinking that we do not put the new password in until we can no longer 'log on' to their system. What's been happening is we log on OK but then get the BT service 'green' No service to your provider notice.
Thanks0 -

There are plenty of other people having problems with their logins and this move to the new network. Have a look HERE . There are a few suggestions on this forum to get around this problem (may take a bit of reading to find the solutions though, there are a lot of complaints as well). How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Thanks but still too much techno babble on that other site so my question still remains from the post before last.
Also this is crunch time for e7even so the jury is out. Customers like me will report to this site in a few weeks if the changes have been successful or not and we will be honest and forthright in our assessments0 -
Guy_Wise wrote:Let me explain very briefly how i see the system works.
The charges made by the company are not realistic and are not sufficient to fully fund the network costs!!
What that means is that there is no surplus money to expand the network when it becomes necessary.
The system relies on mass new signups to keep the company afloat.
Some people have used the term *pyramid scheme*
As you state this is how you see it working - It is not in fact the case and to call it a pyramid scheme is unfair in the extreme.By the way, for some months now e7 have offered a pay monthly scheme.Guy_Wise wrote:Now there is a most wonderful piece of misinformation, if ever i saw one.
BT causing the problem ?
Oh no ! more like e7even had signed up too many people over the summer and their BT Centrals were congested !
BT's fault ?? I don't think so !!
Handsomely ? they gave an extra 2 weeks free to the account.
Many people were so unhappy with that, they wanted an early 2 week release from the contract !
You are just making this up now ! Your comment is absolute misinformation and guessing. I have had 4 weeks added to my account for 3 minor outages in the last 17 months and I think that this was very good - especially as my experience of other telcos has been so bad.Guy_Wise wrote:Now to today's problems. After very heavy signing up over the past seven or eight months, the system had become so *congested* (slow speeds, poor connection, poor ping) that it became evident that something had to be done.
For months they had carried out *port throttling* (limiting download speeds and p2p), despite claiming to offer *unlimited* accounts.
Again you are guessing, and you certainly do not speak for all customers. I have done all sorts of tests and speedchecks and my connection has always been very good. Nuria reports it as being better than average in every area - geberal surfing, download, upload and gaming (though I do not use my connection for that personally). I have certainly made use of the unlimited downloads that I HAVE been receiving with no visible capping or throttling.Guy_Wise wrote:In all honesty, in all practical terms, it is just not realistic to compare Zen to e7even.
It is simply disingenuous and beyond belief to even suggest such a thing !!
I can well see why some people scoffed at that remark, it's like comparing a new Rolls Royce with a second-hand Astra !
But that is just the point - as I said, the comparison was done 6 months or so ago, and e7 was very close to Zen at that time- not bad when it cost 1/3 the price. All of you that check adslguide.org can do the comparison. In the last few months e7 undoubtedly have had problems with their network (they are not the only ones there by a very long chalk) and Zen now have a clear advantage. Will the network problems be sorted out ? I don't know, but I do know that e7 recognise the problem and are doing something to fix it. This would appear to be good in comparison with the likes of Bulldog.
The adslguide ratings are done by taking votes from users. When you look at ADSLguide forums you will see that there has been a lot of jumping on the band-wagon and it seems that people that do not use e7even post around different forums (like this one) ! Even with this the latest adslguide figures show reliability and customer service to be average with speed the only one to be (slightly) below average.
To even be an 'average' service at a price much cheaper than most of the competition is very good, notwithstanding the fact that in most of the time I have been with them, speed, customer support and reliability have all been excellent.
I am glad that you all laughed at the comparison with Zen! I laugh every time I see that you are paying loads more than me for a service that (for me at least) is unlikely to be better. To infinity and beyond!0 -

Hi,
It is the userid that should be changed and not the password. I assume this is what you meant. I have not yet been migrated but will update here when I have been.To infinity and beyond!0 -

HERE is the comparison table for the last six months. I've included Zen, E7, Tiscali, and Bulldog in the comparison. Hover over the individual graph bars to see exact percentages, and the amount of votes.
I've included Bulldog and Tiscali to show how E7 has gone downhill in the opinions of their users. Mike, you seem to quote Bulldog as a bad supplier. We've all seen on these boards how the two most complained about ISPs have been Bulldog and Tiscali, yet according to their own customers ratings. Both of these companies beat E7 now in speed and reliability.
You keep on about the price difference between Zen and E7. I fully accept that Zen can certainly in no way be considered cheap, however, they are reknowned for the quality of their service (both supply of broadband, and customer service). I pay extra because I want a broadband supply that gives no problems at all (and I certainly get this). Since I joined them (approx a year), I have not had even 2 minutes of downtime or slowdowns. This is in direct contrast to the performance of E7. Even you've had problems.
You've seen increasing numbers of complaints about E7 in recent months, both here, and on the adslguide forums. Yet you keep singing the same old 'all is rosy' tune. Unbelievable!!! I think the ADSLGuide ratings speak for themselves. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?
