Can i just say that Jap imports are fantastic value for money and more fool you for thinking otherwise and more of the bargains for me and people like me who know a thing or two about cars.
I have a eunos roadster which is a jap import. Its basically a mazda MX5 with a list of improvements on the British model (only snobs miss out!)
1. Higher spec, my car has air con and all the extras at no extra cost.
2. My car hasn't a spot of rust on it anywhere and it's eleven! (may be due to the fact it never reached Scotland until it was 5.
3. Parts are exactly the same as mx5 parts just some specifc branded items like badges etc are obviously different but engine parts etc no difference. This is because my car was made in the same factory as the british models it just has a different badge!
4. i dont understand why labour is more expensive and have no expereince of this. Anyway it's a japanese car (the best i think) and has never given me a bit of bother.
5. The fact you like french cars says it all to me, get some taste mdear get a wee mazda mx5!
6. Insurance is easy to get i have used Diamond, norwich union direct and elephant amongst a few companies over the last few years and my last premium was £380 and i'm 27.
so in future do your research before making such bold statements

all very well about a very specific (non people carrier - which is where we started) car, but a lot of imports are NOT just the uk equivalent rebadged as something else. Celicas have different wings and bumpers, civics have different engines, mr2's may have a turbo or supercharged engine - not available here, the lucida is narrower than its uk equivalent, tyres from cars direct from japan are different, also the radio needs modded, the dash is in km's which needs rectified etc. Mostly these cars come through with no service history and no accident history availalbe.

all potentially a minefield for your common or garden car buyer.

I havn't bought a car on ebay but have been a seller twice.
The best things to look for as a buyer is when a seller lists all the little faults...........it shows honesty in the seller and dont be shy about using the contact seller option to have a chat visit and view before bidding. Test drives are an option too if your insurabce covers it!
Just dont part with any money unless you are sure..............negative feedback as a non paying bidder is better than a pup! You get a chance to reply to the npb post!

i think i looks a bargain! maybe it got broken into & stereo stolen(looks like what happened).Batteries often go dead at this time of year as ours both have. You will eventually tell if its been in an accident as i have found tiny glass bits that eventually find themselves in the car when i have realised.Hope it turns out a good car for you.

I bought a car on ebay a couple of months ago, it was a trader selling off a part-exchange vehicle. I'd been watching this particular make and model for a while so got a feel for what to look out for, and before bidding I did a HPI, and asked lots of questions and found the seller very communicative and thorough, which was reassuring.

I got lucky, it's a terrific car, can't tell you how nervous I was the moment it came up that I'd won it though!!

After the auction ended the seller told me if I didn't like it I was not obligated to buy, which was very fair of him. Technically by bidding and winning you've agreed to purchase, however if the vehicle is significantly not as described you are within your rights not to complete the purchase, this can be pursued either through ebay or PayPal if you paid any money, such as a deposit, that way. I can see that you are no expert. Why would a french car have to have lower mileage?

I have owned nothing but french cars for most of my life, mainly renaults & peugeots and have had no mileage related problems at all with them. The petrol ones ive owned covered about 130k miles before I sold them (in perfect working order), and the current peugeot diesel i have now has 140k on it, myself having covered 60k on it over the last 2 years. Not only that, all the cars ive owned have been 8-10years old, so id expect newer cars to handle even more mileage.

Although lots of people repeat what they've heard i.e. that it's hard to get parts for Toyota imports, it's a complete fallacy. Almost any Toyota dealer will get Estima parts in 2-3 days if you just quote your chassis number. https://www.estimaownersclub.com can help provide many of the part numbers of common parts and is a mine of useful information.

Link has been removed.....if the person has given a seperate e-mail on their listing for payment it is more than likely that the persons account has been hijacked. The fact that the link has been removed proves this.

He has a family of 4 (soon to be 5) and wanted a people carrier, he definately got that - it even has a pull down double bed !

Insurance was only - get this - £350 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
