See Tickets

I ordered tickets to see Status Quo as a birthday present for my husband. These tickets were ordered in April and the concert should have been in October. A couple of days before the event I received the tickets. I was searching on the internet to see who the special guests were and found that the concert had been cancelled - had heard absolutely nothing from See Tickets. I phoned them up and they said I must just have been missed off their contact list. I cannot attend the new date, so they told me to send the tickets back for a full refund which I did by special delivery. I have just returned from holiday to find that I have been credited some money back but they have taken £25 off me. I have just phoned them to find out why I wasn't given a full refund like I was promised and was told that this is their booking fee. This is such a con. I haven't cancelled the concert that I agreed to, they have.

I am awaiting for a call back from their customer services to see about getting all my money back but I doubt they will contact me. It is so annoying and such a rip off.

Has anyone else been in this situation and got all their money back?

Yeah, rang see up because I couldn't go to Cursive, due to a family death, they refunded the whole amount as long as I returned the ticket.

Most of the time the booking fee is none refundable only the face value of the ticket is refundable check their T&C.
  • I've been in exactly the same situation. My concert got canceled by the organiser but I managed to get everything refunded.

I took the case up with Office of fair trading (OFT) and "consumer direct"
    http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/

They advised me to send them a cover letter asking for a full refund. The OFT states that if they don't fulfill the 'contract' that you have paid them for, they have to bring you back to the financial situation you where in before you bought your tickets.
In their terms and conditions it says that they only refund the face value. Again according to OFT these are unfair contract terms.
When I spoke to See tickets customer service and gave them all these details they gave me a full refund.
I asked them why customers in these situations are not fully refunded as standard, their reply was: It says in our T&C we only refund face value but if customers take us up on it we refund them" Basically they meant, if nobody kicks up a fuss, we get away with it.

I would advise everybody to get in touch with consumer direct. They where really helpful and explained me exactly what I needed to do. Once you get all your facts right, contact SEE tickets customer service and they'll refund you.

I tried to contact Rob Wilmshurst but in the end I explained it to a customer service man and he put me through to someone called Simon. Don't know his surname.

This is from the see tickets website:

depends on the t&c's... not all have that clause...

i think gigantic refund all fees... see is in general a rip off anyway.
  • The problem with a lot of online ticket sellers is that you don't always have a choice.
If you really want to see a band, tickets are only sold through one outlet. Unless you don't have a daytime job and can go to the venue's box office in person.

I think the Office of Fair Trading should step in here and protect genuine customers.

I have just spent another 1/2 hour on hold to no avail. I have now sent an email quoting about the OFT and will see what happens.

It doesn't matter if you go to the venue to purchase your tickets or not, they still charge you the booking fee as it is usually Ticketmaster at the venues.
  • To discuss your refund issues with SEE tickets try these numbers:
0115 9454590 ask for Ruth Lockworth
0115 9129192 ask for Rob Wilmshurst

I have just had a rather heated discussion with See Tickets and they will not budge on this. They will refund me the postage cost that I spent to send the tickets back but they will not be refunding me the booking costs. So annoyed. They have charged me £25 for them cancelling the concert. I have always used See Tickets but will definately not be using them again and urge anyone else who is thinking of doing so, to look around for someone else.
  • I know it's so unfair! You shouldn't have to pay anything for a canceled concert.
I would keep a record and keep all evidence you have and try to get in touch with Consumer direct or your local trading standards (check your council).
I was 'fighting' with SEEtickets over a few pounds but in the end it was more a matter of pride.
I believe in consumer power so if more people complain or make the OFT aware of these situations, it's more likely the OFT will take action against companies like this.

Consumer direct did advise me to keep conversations calm and nice but direct. If you get angry they will just put their foot down and refuse.
  • This is the first time I have used the forum and I am not sure if I am posting correctly, however here goes.
Several weeks ago I booked 'Take That' concert tickets via seetickets and received a confirmation the following day. The money was deducted from my credit card and I thought the tickets would follow in the future. However about 10 days later I was informed that due to a technical problem with the seetickets website the company could not supply the tickets and cancelled my order. Whwn I complained I was offered tickets for a different night, however I really wanted tickets for the original night. Could anyone advise what my rights are as I had already received confirmation that I had booked the tickets by e-mail?

    Many thanks
