Just having a quick surf at work - its gone a bit quieter - I had a passenger earlier who had just had a stroke and we had to wait 1.5 HOURS for an ambulance! Ridiculous! Luckily, because Dad had a stroke last month I recognised the signs and called the work paramedic.
And my sister's best work friend got home yesterday to find that her hubby had hung himself!
With all that is happening that's carp, its made me realise that I've got nothing to worry about at allI'd rather be watching CSI!0 -
Lil_me - could that lettuce be a lollo rosso - that's a purply/red at the ends and on the veins but the rest is greenI'd rather be watching CSI!0

Just caught up...with the thread, but not with the flying as working all day. Yes, I know lots of you are in paid employment and manage to fly, but I just can't get the hang of it! I'm a morning person, and like boddy, solar powered, (I love that description!!), so I'm struggling at the moment.
I did quite well earlier in the week, and so I'm not too discouraged. I can do the bedroom really quickly, and then it's just the washing. DD can shovel out her own room, and the boys' room is still immaculate - just needs a pile of games and puzzles putting up in the loft.
lil_me - it could be beetroot as dusty suggested. Another possibility is spinach, as one type that is quite often used in salad bags has quite distinctive red stems and veins. Swiss or ruby chard is often included, and as a baby leaf also has very red stems and veins - actually, this is probably the most likey one - it has puckered leaves, whereas the spinach is spade shaped and smooth. Well done to your DS for trying them. If it is one of these, he could easily grow then in a tub next year for himself. They will also grow slowly overwinter (well, they will down here in the far south!) but I think you have to sow them at the end of September.
flower - yes, I have days like that, and like dusty, however annoying it is, I just take a day off, or try and force myself to go out - doing some gardening on the allotment almost always works for me. You could try some gentle exercise, or getting out in the daylight, even if it's for a little while. Or use the 15min challenge, with a reward after each one (for days when you can't face a HHC!). Change activity after each 15 mins - it's the best way of revising for exams apparently. I also time how long it takes me to do the jobs I dislike - it somehow doesn't feel quite so awful, if I know it's only going to take 12 minutes!
likklegibbon - crossposted - just wanted to say that is just awful.
Had a letter waiting for me when I got home, recalling me for another mammogram - oh joy. Not going to worry about that, as they said it's not unusual to be recalled for the first one, as they don't have any others with which to make a comparison. It is never too late to become what you were always intended to be0 -
I think I have too much time on my hands!
A father passing by his son's bedroom, was astonished to see the bed was nicely made, and everything was picked up. Then, he saw an envelope, propped up prominently on the pillow. It was addressed, 'Dad.'
With the worst premonition, he opened the envelope and, with trembling hands, read the letter...
'Dear, Dad. It is with great regret and sorrow that I'm writing you. I had to elope with my new girlfriend, because I wanted to avoid a scene with Mum and you.
I've been finding real passion with Stacy, and she is so nice, but I knew you would not approve of her, because of all her piercings, tattoos, her tight Motorcycle clothes, and because she is so much older than I am.
But it's not only the passion, Dad. She's pregnant. Stacy said that we will be very happy. She owns a trailer in the woods, and has a stack of firewood for the whole winter. We share a dream of having many more children.
Stacy has opened my eyes to the fact that marijuana doesn't really hurt anyone. We'll be growing it for ourselves, and trading it with the other people in the commune for all the cocaine and ecstasy we want.
In the meantime, we'll pray that science will find a cure for AIDS, so Stacy can get better. She sure deserves it!
Don't worry Dad, I'm 15, and I know how to take care of myself.
Someday, I'm sure we'll be back to visit, so you can get to know your many grandchildren.
Love, your son, Joshua
PS. Dad, none of the above is true. I'm over at Jason's house. I just wanted to remind you that there are worse things in life than the school report that's on the kitchen table.
Call me when it is safe for me to come home :-)

Friday Flyday- those frightening kids rooms and spare rooms
Well dont know if this counts DD and DS are swapping bedrooms, DD is away at College most of the time and has relinquished control of the "big room" I have never seen his room look so empty it must have been like a bl**dy tardis that's all I can say.
He has been flying on his own today because I went out for lunch with friend which deteriorated into a look around the shops and I didn't get home till 4. To find he had put my washing out, sorted the washing he had "found" whilst sorting out and put it in the machine.
So guilt ridden I cooked his favourite sausage and mash.
and I will get up early and cook some gluten free goodies
So my list for weekend
Gf baking;)
Post parcels for ebay
General wipe round so house stays looking clean
Post 6 more things on ebay
Go cook bacon for firework display tomorrow evening, stay and help with tea and coffees etc.
Stay in on sunday wait for lady to come and collect chinchilla cage
and do some proper work:rotfl:
and like you say likklegibbon, other folks problems sure put your own in perspective
My finances are work in progress.Normal veiwing will resume shortly0 -

Valli those sorts of threads don't usually get a reply, just thanks
Dusty he said 'no too green and flat' but I did explain when things are picked and just due to being 'natural' they aren't always as green, possibly more crinkly but him being the type of child he is if it's not exactly the same, he'll probably say no. Thank you for looking for that for me. Serena and LG thanks for your suggestions too, I think this one will be more tricky than I thought. I have put a note in his diary to ask what it was. He also said 'brocolli nasty' :rotfl: oh well. I did want to see if I can grow with him what he likes. He's got a thing at the minute about cookery programmes, in particular River Cottage, I said he can't have the book until he will eat more vegetables. Can see me having to buy him a book at this rate.
I've got them fed (later than usual but they were eating stuff DS1s taxi driver got them earlier) they had some more fruitmy macaw this week (think I forgot to post) was to get more fruit and veg into them so todays gone very well. DSs pumping well however :rotfl: can't win them all.
LG not good at all, we had a neighbour did that, just awful, hope your sisters friend is ok.
More fireworks going off out the back so wondering if I will get them to sleep, I usually think it's worse when bonfire nights on a weekend but when it's on midweek it drags through the rest of the week/week before. Dogs crying again, big wuss he is. I think I am going to have to tak my own advice to get this house back into shape, babysteps one room at a time. I am fragmented in my approach at the moment and getting nowhere extremely slowly. We started the conservatory in a big way (well he built the cabinet so I will have to say we) trying to get that reorganised so I think I should finish it.
Ok, decided, mission this evening in the conservatory
Clear OU books into boxes
Sort OU books, remove any duplicates
Pack OU books to go in the loft (making sure packages not too heavy!)
Sort through boxes of shoes
Put books onto bookcase
Find somewhere for blank paper and empty files
Put TV back onto cabinet
Videos into video cabinet
Sort through box of, erm, well I don't know what is in that one
If anyone finds my motivation lying around please pass it back as I could do with itOne day I might be more organised...........

Sometimes I go and look at other threads...then I get all shocked and frightened and come back here...some people are so NASTY when folk make spelling/typing errors or misunderstand things...
I know some people do wind ups - it's when folk pick on other folk that gets me...Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

A quick hello
Have been trying to dash in and out all evening. This is as far as I've got
Frankie - Dyson all the way here thought they're not particularly cheap
CShopper - big hugs - hope Grandma's ring turns up. And the pinning thing that Dusty mentioned is pinning the devil like Vallie says - basically think of the thing you've lost as you take a cushion in one hand and stick a pin in it with the other. Then put the pin away, the cushion back and go do something else.
Michelle and Pigpen - hugs
Pink - pleurisy is not nice -take it easy!
Lil-me - would it be the baby beet leaf stuff - that's green leaves with purple 'veins' running through it
Johanne - maybe realisation has suddenly set in with OH!
Then Likkle's post about the hanging pulled me up a bit.
My trip to work was far better than that of the lady who'd had travelled along my usual road an hour before and died. For that I'm seriously grateful from a very selfish point of view. I left about 15 minutes earlier that I normally would and ended up arriving not too later than I normally would so my day was good.
The journey was interesting. I was diverted along roads through the New Forest that I've never driven over before. They are almost single track. A lot of folding in of wing mirrors and driving up verges went on in order to be able to pass the diverted traffic coming the other way. I had a quick conversation with a lorry driver coming the other way at one point who was so close, we could have hugged. My car is now covered in mud on the passenger side and is in dire need of a clean. I shall do that tomorrow
But I am grateful I survived the journey, I did my day's work and I came home again. I am still alive.
You can't beat that day's resultI am the leading lady in the movie of my life
