Hi! Zavarony can I be added to the list. Current mortgage is £58,500 and hope to overpay by £100.00 per month in 2009.

    Thanks.

I'm re mortgaging in 2009, so all savings / potential overpayments will go towards reducing what I have to borrow in June.

    Hey Hawksmuir

Do you want a 2009 target to be put down or shall I put your target as reducing your remortgage in June 2009?
Let me know so I can update when your ready

All requests so far have been updated (I think) :rotfl: and I feel like I've been on and off here all day so far!!!

Shocked me a bit to see 2009 - I can't believe how quickly this year has gone!

Ok, by the end of this year my mortgage should be down to £90,000. I would like to go for an apparent unachievable target of having £10,000 in savings so effectively a mortgage of £80,000 without taking into account normal payments.

I shall be raising this through the various challenges that appear on the forums as I won't be 'earning' any money as I am going to be staying at home with the children. Can't wait to start!

  • Hi zavarony / all,

Despite reading / lurking on the 2008 thread, I don't think I ever posted there. I'm interested in joining the 2009 thread - hope this is ok?

    Target: Reduce mortgage by 12,000

    Bah,

That'll teach me to do a quick post at work...

I'll just switch my hat to overpayments only :D

There's no way at all I could afford 12,000 of overpayments, on top of 10,800 in regular mortgage payments, ie total of 22,800 for the year :eek::eek:

What I would like to do in 2009 is have a net mortgage reduction of 12,000 - so if my mortgage is, say 60,000 come 31/12/08, I'd like it to be 48,000 (or less) come 31/12/09.

I've just done some calculations, as I'm now at home, and that comes to a much more modest overpayment goal of about 3,800 required to meet the 12k reduction target.

    Apologies if I mislead anyone.

    Financial Bliss.

  • Please could you put me down for £1000 in 2009, we are due to re mortgage in April and depending on the rates knocking 2 years off the term ( down to 19 years). I am also trying to boost our savings at the moment so I think this will be realistic.
    Thanks

Number 16 checking in :D I have my mortgage pig at the ready :rotfl:

I will be remortgaging in June 2009 so for the first six months I think all overpayments will be going into a separate bank account to pay for fees etc and any left over gets thrown at the mortgage.

Didn't do very well this year at my aim for £3,000 although better then I would have if I didn't have you guys to answer to;) I think I will go for £2009 in 2009:D nice and easy to remember.

  • OK, count me in too! :D

I'm now limited to overpayments of 10% per year, so for 2009 I'll go for overpaying by £2000, and also putting £3000 into savings.

My new plan is to have enough saved up to pay off the remaining balance when my discount period ends in September 2011 - that means if I don't overpay in the meantime then I would need around £10k in savings to pay it all off.

Seems unachievable right now, but I thought 2008's goal wasn't reachable either and I've managed that! I think a sort of stretchy, slightly hard-to-reach target gives me even more motivation.

Good luck to everyone with your goals, and big thanks to Zavarony for keeping this thread going into the new year! :T

Oops, forgot to say I'm #18 on the list. Thanks!
