I didn't meet target 2, but did better than I thought I would.

    Hi,

I haven't managed to post much this year, but I have been keeping up the challenge. My target was to over pay by £10000. I've managed to pay £24491 off my mortgage this year. :j

I don't like to count my chickens before they hatch but as I'm disappearing off without internet access I thought I had better make a final update for the year.

On the 30th my final payment for the year will go through. My calculation is that this will be £1107.03. Making my overpayments for the year £6161.33. This beats my target by £1161.33.

During the year I have also built up some savings which I won't count towards the final figure but which I intend to go towards the mortgage at some point. However, who knows what will happen to them. Thanks to Zav for inspiring this thread and keeping up the work throughout the year.
  • Hiya folks,
long time no post but it has been a little fraught in the household moneywise since i last posted.
DH was injured at work and was off for a few months and then was on light duties when he went back and has just had an operation to sort out the original injury so our earning capacity was drastically reduced and still is for the next six or so months which has had an obvious effect on our mortgage payments. still, due to good budgeting and using all the brilliant moneysaving ideas gained from this site over the past four years, they stood us in good stead for when the bad times happened and we are surviving thankfully.

    Our original target was 10,000.00
    current achievement 5,128.88

hopefully normality will be resumed by the middle of the year and we can continue to make meaningful dents in our mortgage in the future.

  • Firstlhy, thanks Zav for all your work on the threads this year.

My target was to increase OP's to 25% above the flat monthly payment (We're on fixed rate so have had no benefit from interest rate changes etc). I'm pleased to report that we have surpassed that by some way, ending the year on 35.57% above.

I think our target for next year is going to be angled towards reducing the term by a year - a slightly tougher challenge if I'm honest but one with a really positive end if we succeed.

  • Firstly, thanks Zav for organising / administering this.

Well, I wont be making any more payments in 2009, so here's how it stacks up for me. Original aim was to overpay by £3,800. Breakdown of payments was as follows:

    January: 301.97
    February: 301.97
    March: 301.97
    April: 126.97
    May: 126.97
    June: 301.97
    July: 126.97
    August: 126.97
    September: 201.97
    October: 201.97
    November: 401.97
    December: 260.47

    Total: £2,782.14 (73.21% of goal)

The £3,800 aim was always going to be a stretch - me - always an optimist  Still hitting nearly 75% of the target isn't that bad and more importantly, I'm happy with our progress this year.

    Financial Bliss.

  • Hello! Number 241 reporting in.

Firstly, huge thanks to Zavarony for doing the honours this year. :T

Secondly, on the grounds that I didn't win the lottery last night and that I won't be making any more OPs this year, I'm doing to declare my final figure.

Original target was £3500, which we passed quite early on so we set another for £6k which we also beat.......final figure being £7417.63 :D

The Little Mama household are very happy at what we've managed and I really need to thank OH for all the hard work he does as he's the breadwinner :kisses3:

I think I've cut all the fat off the bills that we can, we've made the most of TCB and got a very good fixed rate offset mortgage so I'm not expecting the same amazing in-roads next year as our aim is to build up the offset pot significantly, however it all heads in the right direction.

Well done to all of you on here :T

and I look forward to seeing you all over on the MFW2010 and MFWin3 T2 threads.

    Happy Hogmanay
and all the best for 2010.

    LM :hello:

Hi all, number 222 reporting final payment of 2009.

Aim was to reduce mortgage to £148,000.
Outstanding mortgage balance stands at £144,000.

Total capital repayment required in 2009 was £10,340.
This months capital repayment is £2800.
Total capital repayment for 2009 is £14,340.

Really can't believe we've done so well, this has been our first year of overpaying our mortgage and we've payed more off the balance of our mortgage than during the previous five years combined - despite my partner being on maternity leave for eight months of the year! Looking forward to hammering the mortgage again next year, thanks to Zavarony for running this thread over the past twelve months.

    Happy new year everyone!
    2010 MFW #121 (£7100/£14,500)
