Just paid another £100 off now DH has been paid. So July balance is £61900. Can't believe how good it feels to have reduced the mortgage due to sale. We moved to South Wales 11 years ago & thought our mortgage was huge then at £56K. Took us 9 years to pay that off although I didn't know about OP then. Really looking forward to seeing it shrink over the coming months.

Well done and congratulations A-MS  it must feel great to have finally got to that stage! Enjoy your restaurant and drinkie treats, they're well deserved!

I have made my final payment into my mortgage savings for July, and my total for the month comes to £625 :T It would have been more, but I haven't received some overtime pay that I was expecting... oh well, it will come through next month instead so that should mean a massive payment at the end of August!

BUT - I have now hit my savings target for the year, with 5 months still to go! :j:j:j

Good news folks  All but £70 is now paid off the mortgage! I shall be taking cash to the B.S. 25 miles away on 1st August to pay off the final bit to make sure the amount is right. I would go tomorrow but I have a bbq to go to and I am not about to forgo any free food!

First thing to do after the B.S. visit will be a nice restaurant lunch and then some nice drinkies in the evening (we have a bottle of champagne at home waiting). In the autumn, we'll have our first proper foreign holiday in 9 years and then we'll start saving again for the next mortgage, making a start to our third MF before it starts!

I'll be dropping in to see how you're doing, especially toward the winter, it'll be great to see even more people make their targets! Keep up the good work!

No extra mortgage overpayments this month (well, not above the £200 I've been overpaying as standard), but I have finally cleared every last penny off my credit cards, so from August I should have some spare each month to start throwing at the mortgage.

Now I just need to decide which of my four empty cards to cancel - but that's a question for another board. :)
