I'd like to be included if you don't mind. Started new mortgage at the end of september, spending the rest of this year building up an emergency fund and getting other stuff sorted (like new home insurance etc.), hoping to start overpaying in January.
Assuming no disasters (roof caving in, boiler packing up, and the like) me and MrsBlackCat will be aiming for £3500 of overpayments for 2009. I'll aim to sort my signature out and keep it up to date with progress over the next year.
WELCOME MrBlackCat
Your target has been added to the list, GOOD LUCK for 2009

Well I'm gearing up for my first overpayment, although its a little delayed due to a water leak in my kitchen! just my luck, ive renovated the whole house excepting the kitchen and a flexi hose has a leak.. so im waiting to sort it out before i make my overpayment.
Its a hard balance though, how do you decide whether to O/P the mortgage, save for a new kitchen or spend the money on hols?
Even though my mortgage has gone up im better off than ever as I have cleared all my debts and want to spend my cash wisely. any advice?
Although if i did O/P i have an offset so I could always draw it back. But im keen to supplement my ISA savings which are there to modernise my kitchen, i figure i need 3k more to do a good job on it..
any help gratefully received!Mortgage free wannabe!:

Wooo Hoooo
So pleased about this thread as I am really planning on attacking my mortgage head on next year and setting a larger target than 2008. I will PM when I have worked it out:DBut these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.0 -
Hi all, so time to stop lurking and take the plunge, gulp!
Can I be added please?
Remortgaged recently, so now have a 15yr term for £75,000 (down from 23yr for same amount) and want to OP by £4200 in 2009, so £350 a month.
Thanks and good luck all0 -
Hi all
Never got round to overpaying this year but would still like to be included for 2009. I have just set up a standing order for £5 per month. I know it's not much but this will increase in April when my childcare costs are nearly halved due to 3+ funding, yay.
I would like to aim for £2000 in overpayments, start small and hopefully I can achieve it, as I also want to build up some emergency funds and go on holiday.
ThanksFashion on a ration 0 of 660 -
Hi guys, been a while since I posted, but thought I'd update my progress.
Started mortgage in April 2006 at £170k
That mortgage deal ended in April 2008 with a balance of £135k
Paid a £15k lump between deals so it didn't effect 10% max overpayment for 2008/9.
New mortgage deal started in April 2008 with £120k
Balance as of October is £115k
Currently overpaying £490 a month (thanks to new interest rate drops!)
Plan to overpay at least another £3k before year end (April 2009).
