(....aww thanks guys! :-*)
Yes you need to upgrade to a premier account to receive credit card payments I am afraid!
Quote from Paypal "Help" Personal accounts are reserved for individual use and are designed primarily for people who would like to send payments. Personal accounts may not receive payments funded with a credit card. Unquote

Just a note on safety. Like any Internet shopping you have to be aware of risk. I got a message the other day saying that $175 had successfully been withdrawn from my account. To check the details, I needed to click on a link. I went to my paypal account independently and checked that no such transaction had taken place. Sent the mail to spoof@paypal.com ad they confirmed a scam.
As for Paypal itself, they charge some don't they! Would like to use an alternative but would need to build our own to compete.0 -
PayPal are the biggest rip off merchants i know.
If you set up the account giving your debit card, as they ask you to, you then give them carte balnche to take funds from your account without your authorisation. I have had a lot of problems with payPal, infact i am waiting to hear from them reagrding my complaints, and they have 5 days before i go to the small claims court to get my bank charges reimbursed.
If you want to hear some horriffic PayPal stories, go to paypalsucks.com then make you rmind up.
I used it for my eBay, and now i would prefer to wait a few days and send a cheque than be ripped off.
Their helpdesk doesnt care, so you have to act tough and take them to court.
This is my experience anyway.0 -
Personally i think the charges should be split between buyer and seller each paying 2 % of the total transaction but i doubt it will happen. When you use a CC card in certain stores you are charged 1% or more of purchase price so i dont see why it couldnt apply to Paypal too unless it would lower their profits >:(0

Just to point out the 1% on the credit cards in stores is not added onto the price it is included in the price....I would explain but suffice to say you are not charged anything more in those stores no matter how you pay

So Even if you didn't pay by CC you will still be charged?

If you pay for a holiday in a travel agent you are charged an extra 1% on top of the price advertised if you pay by CC card.0
