Yes mine also said NIL for interest rate for a couple of days. I too opened without depositing from a Halifax account and was unable to make an online transfer to it from any another Halifax account for the same period of time.
However I was able to fund it very shortly after opening using a faster payments transfer from my First Direct current account.
This is of interest as I still do not have the ability to pay in in the Halifax online service. It is just not in the drop down menu although it now shows 4.5% and does not say 'enquiry only service' anymore. I'm planning on making an interbank faster payments so this has given me some reassurance. Anyone else have experience in this area?0 -

If I have understood correctly and you're referring to the "Quick Transfer" box at the top, I had the same issue. I phoned them and apparently because the account only allows 4 withdrawals it does not appear. Make of that what you will, but if you want to transfer from, say, a Halifax High Interest Current Account the transfer has to be added manually.0 -

To verify faster payments just send a small amount first as a test.
My fp test transfer showed up immediately in the Halifax Guaranteed Saver.

So from the current account you set up a transfer and enter the sort code and account number (or roll number) as you would if you wanted to transfer to a friend's Halifax current account?0 -

Yes that is what I have done.

I can't be bothered with the 6% account. Opening a current account and shifting £1k about every month is too much hassle. I've opened the Web Saver Reward (fixed 5%) which doesn't require any of this. Applied yesterday (funds transferred from HSBC in seconds, first time I've experienced Fast Payments, v. impressed !). Account open today and showing 5% interest. Could be a very valuable account in 6 months time.0

Has anyone received their cashcard for the GSR yet? Its been almost 2 weeks since I opened mine. I hope it hasn't gone walkies with the PIN.0

Well the transfer was instant, but I had to go through the whole automated phone security check rigmarole! Quick enough though0
