Really? Do you mean that each of you would only spend £25 in total? If you mean that you would spend £25 on each person, I think that is a lot of money.
Maybe I'm out of touch with prices but I would never spend £25 on a present for one person. I keep a "give away drawer" and put things into it throughout the year. I buy things when they're on offer and stock up on presents that will do a range of people, eg nice stationery. I agree with everyone who said they would be happy to receive vouchers, although I've often passed on presents which I'd been given early for Christmas. It's the thought that counts!
I am always shocked by notices proclaiming items over £10 as "stocking fillers".
I'm so glad that other people are trying to save money!

    :D

I save money through out the year and each person gets £25 give or take a few £ - but last year there were HUGE arguements which involved OH buying presents without my knowledge for his family as they "complained" (they screamed at him down the phone) that they had spent far more on us than we spent on them (load of cr*p) so this year i brought goods from car boots lol Dont get me wrong, i havent brought rubbish - i wouldnt give them the pleasure in telling people i had brought brought rubbish presents! but i havent spent much and im not ever planning on doing again (hehe)

We're moving to be nearer my parents and hopefully will only see OH family at xmas (thank gawwwwwwwwwwwd!)

What a bloomin awful lot..I think i will have a looksie at carboots as well, my OH's family never appreciate anything we buy, we never get a thankyou or anything yet they want thankyou letters off ours:confused: One year we were meeting up with them after Christmas and i went to woolies boxing day sale and bought their pressies, they never knew:rotfl:
Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:
  • ah my OH's family want thank yous too. They even get on at him to buy his aunts and grandmas mothers day cards - his mum said she expected a mothers day card from MY DD - she didnt get one lol and were supposed to buy the "merry xmas mum and dad/sister/grandparents" cards which are blinkin expensive. ive got cards from tesco in a pack - theyre having one a them instead lol

    :Dwell, I'm all sorted :D

I remembered I bought some plum in madeira little individually wrapped cake things at the airport last week and they have a load of marzipan in  . My Mum adores Marzipan and so I've lain all the remaining ones on top of the card the voucher is in and wrapped it.

For my sister (getting the £10 M+S voucher) I saw that there were loads of half price little smellies gifts sets in Tesco today, so I got her quite a posh looking bath beads and bath lotion set (very Boots looking) for £2.50 and I'll pop the voucher in there.

My brother likes all different ales so I'll wrap the 2x£5 ones around a bottle of local ale and give that to my mum and dad to take back as they see him once a fortnight when he goes home for the football.

Thankyou again for the ideas. :T
