Having been inspired by this thread I have started selling some of my books on Amazon. I have sold about 20 in three weeks and I'm very pleased. They were all books that were taking up space on my already crowded shelves.0

why dont people check their book values before swapping? I guess their loss my credit card gain
Had a very quiet week on sales until today. Sold 2 this morning for a massive profit of £6. Then had a risi and listed it, only requested it as the only other one on there was going for £48 put it on for £45 not for 1 minute thinking it would sell, as its only a biography of someone who's not that hot IMHO.
Well I think someone just got home drunk from the pub, cause its just sold!
I don't understand why people don't check the values before putting them on risi, but I for one am happy they don't!I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

I've only read about it,and wondered how you managed itbut well done
Book wise I've sold another book yesterday, for about £4 profit, (Amazon) and another for about £2.50 profit. It could have been more if I'd sold it on Amazon, but there was a lot to be sold, whereas on Greenmetropolis, there wasn't any listed.
Is it winding down for most people? It's either manic or minimal at the moment here ...0 -
Can't sleep!
It only cost 10.99 new. I reckon the buyer was so drunk they thought it was £4.50 not £45.00. I feel guilty it can't possibly be worth that much, the bloke is still alive, and probably will be for the next 40 years or so.
I know a book is worth as much as a person is willing to pay, but I think the buyer will be seriously pi**ed off when they see how much it cost originally.
Has taken all my willpower not to refund him. Another strange coincidence the book was a swap from 12 miles away and has been bought by a guy in Wales. Hope he doesn't come looking for me when he gets it in the post!I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

I only started in December, and December and January were really quiet for me, have sold 18 so far this month, and I'm not trying that hard as I have a full time job. I have however now made enough to cover Baby Satan's Thomas the Tank bed ready for the new house. Am really pleased and now that the essay is done will try a bit harder as I need to save for some of the IVAR book shelves ready to move as at the moment every surface in the sitting room is covered in books!I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

Why bother worrying?
When I joined the topic I often worried about prices being asked. After reading some of the posts I realised that a book is worth whatever people are prepared to pay ... me included. I'm still buying 1p books from Amazon and paying 2.75 for postagebut I wanted the books
I bought some in a lot, and one that clearly said it was worth £20 plus ( I can't remember now, but less than a pound on the back) ...and it sold for more than £20.
There's some books I'm still 'tidying up' that are worth the same ... so I might put them on for even more money ... and the price Amazon "suggests/recommends/whatever" is 0.35p - the cost of the book originally. I'm not going to argue with my own instincts anymore. I'll just list it at some ridiculous price ...and wait0 -

December and January were great for me (I think!) ...
But I feel for you. I'm busy trying to reorganise the filing system, that I thought was infallibleuntil the OH 'tidied up'
And I'm as lost as a lost thing now. We even had words about his way of tidying up ... so if I had little one's, or was moving ...I'd give up

I swear its looking at me from the shelf! I can't take my eyes off it, I can see his big grin smirking at me. If I'd sold my stupid book on diamonds I wouldn't feel guilty. I think the reason I feel guilty is you must still be able to find this book in some bookshop or other for 10.99 as it's only just over 5 years old, they must still be knocking about, whereas the diamond one is ancient and hard to come buy (and clearly not wanted much as nobody has bought it yet!)
I think I'll have to toughen up in this business or I'll drive myself mad with guilt :AI love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

I do not encourage feedback tho.
HTH
On average we're about the same Angela, and I don't encourage feedback either - but I always thank people that do take the time.
I've got a weird one that ordered and paid for a book, and tried to cancel because she said she'd already bought a copyI'm wondering what the best way to deal with someone buying the same copy twice affects me? They've left feedback, and a good one, but I think they can change it at any time before 60 days is up.
So I'm not sure whether to part refund, and wonder where I stand, or just leave it and hope the 100% 5 star feedback isn't compromised0
