On average we're about the same Angela, and I don't encourage feedback either - but I always thank people that do take the time.

I've got a weird one that ordered and paid for a book, and tried to cancel because she said she'd already bought a copy  I'm wondering what the best way to deal with someone buying the same copy twice affects me? They've left feedback, and a good one, but I think they can change it at any time before 60 days is up.

So I'm not sure whether to part refund, and wonder where I stand, or just leave it and hope the 100% 5 star feedback isn't compromised

I dont think they can change it but they can withdraw it,as I have had people withdraw feedback when the problem was with how much the postage was and this is out of my control.
  • Morning Amazonions!!!!!!!

Yesterday while in a bookshop  with OH (browsing only...he likes to look at the inside of a book before buying ;) !!!) I noticed there are BOOKS WRITTEN ABOUT SELLING ON AMAZON!!!!!!!!

We missed out there didn't we...AT could have written that book!!!!!!!!!!!

Have had a few duff swaps and very few sales...blaming it on the old Christmas CC bill though. I know I say this all the time but we gotta remember its not costing us anything so its a no risk venture.

Its a very welcome bonus to my wages(which are supporting us both) so I'm happy for anything I can get!!!! Just think of this quiet period as a little breather for us to prepare for the Summer rush!!!!!!! :D

P.S. CONGRATS ON FINISHING THE ESSAY BECKY :j

I've just sold the second book from the ones bought at auction, it made £28, so even after taking into account the enormous Amazon fees of a shade over £6 I am now in profit. I had decided that unless I was actually in profit by the time the next auction came round i wouldn't go again, but I now have the perfect excuse for a second visit in a weeks time.

    Hurrah!

Hi, I've been a MSE lurker for years, but only just started posting.

Thank you all for this thread, I have bought and sold a few CDs on amazon in the past (maybe 20 or so?), but only have received 2 feedbacks, but they were 100% and complimentary.

I am a bit of an amateur having a clearout before redecorating. Usually I give stuff to Oxfam but sometimes I get fed up seeing my treasured books and CDs on sale for a fraction of their value and still no-one wants them. I have volunteered in Oxfam shops and know that if it sits aroubnd for months, it gets binned which is such a waste It seems to me that by sellitng on amazon, I can clear my shelves, make some money for myself, and for Oxfam without waste, so everyone will win.

However having read this thread, i have some questions as you all seem so experienced.

I have one CD which is being listed on the market place for £12, I bought it 10 years ago for £9.99 and it still has the "virgin chart" price sticker on it - should I remove the sticker?

I never remove the "bonus track" etc stickers from my CDs - does this put buyers off?

I have one CD whihc is listed as £11.99 in the amazon shop but 4 - 6 weeks delivery), in my experience, they are never in stock - do buyers think that too - because it is going for a whopping £35 on the marketplace, and I'd quite like to get that price.

Also, what makes a CD "collectible".

Thank you all for the very helpful tips on this thread.
  • Welcome to the thread!!!!

Maybe a collectible CD is a limited edition one(usually numbered?)??? Some CDs have extra bonus tracks or special packaging too. I have sold a few CDs but find I am in no way an expert.

Everything you could possibly need to know is either on one of the Amazon threads or in Apprentice Tycoon's head so just ask and ye shall find!!!!!! :D

Zoe - I'm not so sure about that! we seem to have concentrated on books more than anything else and I know that I don't have much to offer with regard to selling music.....:o I hope that someone else can pitch in here and give a hand

Boufje until someone does come along with advice I'd keep all the stickers on and list them all at just under the other sellers prices, don't forget you can change anything if you want to at a later date.

sticker wise - i tend to remove price labels but leave the bonus / limited track stickers on - people seem to like that

as for collectable - limited preferably numbered editions, special editions, special covers only available, imports, and rareitys, cds by artists who went on to become famous elsewhere, and promo's

but frankly for collectable cd's i would check ebay prices first as they can go bananas for limited stuff on there - i would look on there for a collectable first rather than amazon, and if you go for the ebay route make sure you sell globally - americans pay top dollar for some cd's that are only availble in the uk

    Thenks for new post,

Doing quite nicely on Amazon sold my first 3 items today!

Apart from the confirmation email that the item has been sold should I check in my amazon account that the item really has been paid for? whats he best way todo it?

Im so used to eBay its hard getting used to another format. Is ZSHOP the equivalent to "MY eBay".

    Thanks

    BG NOTE

Sorry for interefering but I have merged the 'new' thread into the old one as we actually had both open and live. If this thread is getting too long I'll pm Apprentice Tycoon and see whether she will do the honours again with starting a third thread, and then I'll close the old thread so we only have the one running.

Sorry if I'm being heavy handed but two open threads will get confusing.
