It's Halloween already??? ***quickly phones Hubbles to pick up Halloween sweeties on way home from work***

hi guys hi BB what a dilemma to be in re the job.. I'd say sit do the old cliched sit down with a piece of paper and do the pros and cons of each job. what is it about the job that you have been offered that attracts you? is the financial security and loss of pressure more important than sticking around pople that you have got to know or is security in your job more important to you? What possibilities might there be in the new year or is there a possibility you may be kicking yourself for not taking this opportunity? Only questions you can answer and as for individual reasons only you can realise if there are any. Personally i'd say go for the new one, lack of requirement to aqa unless you want to, less pressure time off etc but sometimes being happy ina job is more important than money.
Good luck in making the decision I am sure that you will make the right one for you. xxx

I have to say BB, if I were you and heard the magic words 'time off' or 'top up savings' I'd go for it. At the moment you've got no time to yourself at all - how long can yousustain that for without crashing?

What you do is awesome but you perhaps need to have more regard for yourself and being able to slow down now might make future plans easier to make?

As for being guilty about leaving after just 7 months - don't be. They won't be feeling guilty about the major changes they intend to inflict on you!

cheers gang. I guess money is the top thing added to a job I know I could do within an organisation I understand (I spent 4 years working for them in the 90s). I feel that the direction adult learning is taking is very much towards apprenticeships etc and more about selling themselves, something I don't do comfortably (says she with 15 years in PR, but that's very different to marketing and selling). However...........would the job 'excite' me?? I'm not sure, but the financial pressure is getting quite serious.

And then..............ahem...........there's Charlie. OK, OK.......I know, I'm stupid to have this as a consideration but it would mean every lunchtime leaving the office during term time and going up to see him to take him out. The main civic centre is about a mile away so only a quick 2 minutes up the road and back but it would be a 5 day a week commitment for 6 weeks at a time because of the agreement I have with my ex. It's non-negotiable from my side - I am not going to give up my responsibilities on him and I know my ex would be doubly stuck if I did as he is a teacher, works a couple of miles away and often doesn't get a lunch break as he has lunch cover or whatever they call it. If I'm brutally honest (oh, god, here goes), it has stopped me going for full time jobs before. I became ill before we first got him as a puppy (Ihad a really bad spinal injury) and then after getting hime worked mornings in the office and afternoons from home so for me, being in a full time office job has never been a situation I've had to organise. I'm now physically well enough I believe to work full time but Ijust keep thinking - well, I need to consider Charlie.

.......ducks and waits to be called stupid...........

why on earth would you be called stupid!! animals can be as much of a consideration as children when it comes to work. How far away would you be from charlie? do you have any rellies nearby that you could pick him up on your way in the morning, drop him there and take him out at lunch before taking him home on your way home iyswim? some offices allow dogs to be taken to work, would this be an option where you will be?

to be honest that's how I've always seen him (daft as it is). He would be a mile away, the same distance as my current office in a different direction, but at the moment I finish at 1 or 2pm so it's not an issue.

no, unfortunately not. Nearest is my sister in Peterborough!!

sadly not, that would be so cool if I could. I even got him a 'take your dog to work day' freebie pack a few years ago with a branded yellow neck bandana but he's never had the chance to wear it! :D

ooooh, I've just seen a man without his trousers on!! :rotfl:

the lady over the road must be having a halloween party as I've just looked up and there are loads of cars outside her house and there are 3 big silhouette witch type things in the window.

The front bedroom light was on and although there are nets, there was a guy taking his trousers off and then folding them up!! It's a bungalow like me, but I'm higher up on this side and 'look down' on the houses opposite.

Sigh........that's made my night - about as much excitement as I'm going to get bloke wise!
