BB that is a dilemma similar to mine recently, I was in a job I enjoyed but knew that the days were numbered to decided to jump ship to my current job. The position has obviously got you thinking and interests you.
I would probably apply for it and if you get offered the position take it from there as you might kick yourself if you dont apply. You can also negotiate where you start on the pay scale too, dont just accept being put at the bottom, they tried that one with me and I started at the top after negotiations
It must be difficult to juggle things the way you do at the minute. But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.0 -

I am REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY fed up.
no particular reason just sick of everything
I d go for the new job BB, it would be lovely not to "have" to AQA all the time.
and you could manage the teaching as well, look at what you juggle now.
I guess I am saying that purely on the money tho, if work friends are important to you then I guess that makes a difference?

The greatest pleasure in life is doing what people think you cannot do0 -
buffy/lou - an important aspect is the money. The bottom of the scale (they are very tight here with putting people at the bottom!!)would be £1300 a month so that's enough to pay the bills, pay for food and petrol and possibly have £50 or so left over for (dare I even dream of it) socialising. The teaching would be £200 a month in Jan/Feb/March extra after tax (2 evenings a week) and then I'd take a look at how doing a f/t job and then teaching in the evening was affecting me, but that would be 'savings' money.
If I didn't teach after March, I could do AQA on Saturdays each week, earn £50 or so in the afternoon and still have £200 a month to try to re-plenish my rapidly decreasing savings. That would give me Sundays off (god, that would be a luxury!) although knowing me and the routine I now have, there's every chance I'd do a bit on Sunday afternoon also.
I also feel it's not time to have to get to know a load of new people again. I've settled in well to my new job and have a great rapport with everyone and really feel like part of a family. We are based in an old school so there are just 30 or so staff and it's nicer than the huge sprawling sites I've been used to. The department for the vacancy is children and young people's services and they work closely with the PCT, so my NHS background would be useful.
I just feel a bit guilty at possibly jumping ship only 7 months after starting. I know I have to look after myself but I just don't know.
Financially however, I am sinking fast in my current situation.
OH just popped round briefly and trotted out all the stock phrases - go for it, you can always turn it down, it's better money, you're currently undervalued, but couldn't come up with anything 'individual' about why I should do it, which makes me wonder if I'm just looking at it for the sake of it.
Damn, why isn't this happening next March/April when we'll know what new jobs will be on offer in my department......"Stay Wonky":D
