You might get more response if you don't write in txt spk - it makes it hard to read.
  • i received a letter saying i had to pay £35 but i ignored it...and 3 weeks later i got another letter which was in red iink saying this is a reminder i have to pay £35 or else theyl send my details to the debt agency and they will come to sort it...and if i dont pay they will add extra £25 charges...
so i rang the telebilling company up today and finally i got through and the lady was like you have to pay for using this service..i told her that am not going to pay because i put phone down straight away it was your company giving me solicitated tex messages and she said but you have to pay for receiving them...so i said to her thats not my number and she got puzzled and she started saying your o2 customer provider gave your number and your details to us and i was still saying nope its not my number am never on o2..and then she said ok il ring your provider and then il ring you back and it has been 5 hours she hasnt rang me back...
does that mean they wont send me any more bills letters through post or will they continue...ive even emailed them saying lots of swears and threatening them lot and told them to take me of their !!!!!! system...

can any1 here help me with this am getting alot worried because am already in debt please :(:(:(

Don't worry about it, they would need to take you to court before they could get any money out of you and they would never put such a ridiculous case before a judge. Telebilling makes money from their victims either because they aren't aware of the legalities of the situation or who are embarrassed by their calls and letters about calling an adult chat line.

Just put each letter from them or any claiming to be from a debt collection agency working on their behalf in the bin and they will eventually go away once they know they're wasting their time.

I would strongly recommend not sending them any money. You don't owe them anything and anyone that comes to your door has no power to enter your property or take anything that belongs to you.

The absolute worse thing that could happen is they take you to court, and the consequence of that is that a £30 court fee would be added onto the claim amount. You could then attend court to explain your side before a judge who would almost certainly agree with you. In the highly unlikely event that they did win in court, you should then pay but you would only need to pay another £30 on top of the original 'debt'. They have no right to add any additional charges.

But saying that, they have never taken anyone to court because they only make money out of people who fall for their tricks. It would be a shame if you became one of those people.

Lee, what protocols do Vodafone have to help deal with the scammers who buy lots of SIM cards for yours (or any) network and then use them to send out SMS with things like this?

If there isn't one, I think it's well past time that the mobile operators actually worked together to do something about it before the EU or the UN gets involved and does something to protect consumers (and you don't want the UN to get involved, not with their new "Omega" statute book).

HAHAHA..... this is the funniest thing I have read in ages. I'm fairly sure you'll find that this is slightly off the remit of what the UN covers hahahahahaha You my friend are a div, but thanks for the laughs
  • Out of the blue I've received a bill through the post from TeleBilling telling me I owe them £35. It refers services that have been used by a specific mobile number which is shown on the bill. I have absolutely no knowledge of the number they are billing me for and I've no idea how they've got hold of my address. I sent them an email explaining that it's not my mobile number and that they should try to trace whoever owns the mobile in question if they want payment.
I've no intention of paying but this kind of stuff worries me especially as I'll be applying for a mortgage soon and don't want anything to affect my credit rating.
Having just come across this thread I was wondering if anybody has experienced further problems with these jokers (other than receiving a bill in the post)

And you, "my friend" are the div because the UN has the ITU-T as part of its executive. Shall I shall explain what the ITU-T does? I think I shall.

The ITU-T is the International Telecommunications Union - Telephony division, they mainly agree the standards for international telephone networks, but they also police them.
