  • You are so restrained :D. And you got so much for your money :A. I found that cutting back on my clothes budget when money was tight a few years ago was one of the hardest things. (For people reading this worrying about paying for essentials like food and heating, I apologise :o.) I was used to spending a lot and, although it was a bit of a waste, nice new and good tailored clothes do wonders for confidence. I mainly buy from outlet shops these days and since money has become less tight, I treat myself once a season to a few things that are actually this season's clothes!

My only spends today (other than transport to work) have been on MSs so at some point I will get the money back. No money coming in today. I feel another gambling weekend coming up to try to boost my monthly total. I sometimes look down my bank statement and think I'll get referred to gamblers anonymous before long!

    Best wishes,

  • I never used to be like this Chocs, and totally agree about the tailored clothes thing, but since I put on a bit of weight I don't feel good in anything, so I guess it saves me money in buying clothes even though it makes me feel cr&ppy and I avoid all mirrors like the plague...:o Still, am trying to something positive about that so hopefully I'll regain the 'old' me fitness and shape-wise in the new year.

Well, bingo br!tain kindly refunded the extra tickets I hadn't actually purchased, so £54-odd went over to my bank account tonight. :D I'm up late / early - however you like to view it (!) so have done scratchcards - 10p & £1  played the £1 through but won nothing. Also deposited £10 in a wild 'in it to win it' / 'speculate to accumlate' moment on B Britain and played through but nothing there either. Our Friday's bonuses not paid into accounts yet, not sure what time they start to show, so can't play through that until tomorrow (or today!) but at a decent hour!

We spent £5 less than we had budgeted for on our planned meal out tonight with the MIL. We'd saved the cash for it this month - was nice not having to get the debit card out for a meal. Was also nice to take a fiver home with us!

The last but one of our M&S glitch orders turned up today - for some reason they've split the order so I think the rest should arrive tomorrow. That's finished some Christmas gifts off nicely as there were actually a couple of people I thought I'd finished but hadn't - until now! ;)

I have Friday off, so looking forward to a day of pottering around the house and getting things ship shape. Loads of washing to do though, suppose it's too much to ask for to have a nice washing drying day weather-wise in December isn't it? :o:rotfl:

  • Up early again so played our BB bonuses through - 'hubby' ;) on £17.50 so I've deposited a bit so I can withdraw it all. :D (thanks for reminding me of that one Chocs!). Have pre-purchased a couple of games for tomorrow as we won't be near the laptop to do it and want to ensure we get our bonuses for Sunday.

Right, need to get showered, dressed and tackle the washing and hoovering, then I'm going to try cleaning some of the carpets with the cleaner my parents have lent us.

Sure I'll be drawn back here later though! :o;)

  • I've been a busy bee this morning. I've changed sheets and done 3 loads of laundry, 2 of which are dry already. I've also cleaned (most of) the downstairs carpet and I think that's all but dry too; it's freshened the carpet up a wee bit. I rescued some leeks from the botton of the fridge that I'd forgotten about, and have washed cut and frozen them to use next week. :D Have also made a batch of banana cakes with some bananas that wouldn't have lasted the weekend. :D Nigella, eat your heart out. :D:rotfl:

  • Hi DFSD

You sound like you have had a productive day. I have just got in from work . One of those days when I feel like I have worked hard but not achieved a great deal.

A glance down my emails shows some positive signs on the MSE front. One of my Ebay lots has sold and a bit of Amazon money is coming in. I'll update my total over the weekend.

Did you get the BB email? Someone has won over £2k on the bingo in one week - blimey, that's a lot of bingo games played.

  • WOW. Thank you again bingo gods! We're back from our weekend with friends, and logged on to play through our bonuses. Hubby won £30 with his bonus on BB. :j I then joined up with W!nk b!ngo wth a bonus deposit offer thing, and came out £12.98 up :j (although I will count that one when it hits my bank account as their withdrawal rules are quite complicated). THEN, I played my bonus through on BB and won £100! :j:j:jWhat a result for a couple of hours work, and a spend of £5 (w!nk deposit). We're so chuffed, we really are.

Our intention is to pay it off the credit card, but we will 'hide it' in our e-saver account for a week or two as we're not really sure how much hubby will be paid this month due to changing jobs mid-month.

    But £100! WOW!

Well after calming down a bit after that, we had a fab weekend catching up with friends. We shared petrol costs, but petrol cost us £35 ish, with further spends of £27 on lunches out and a few drinks. I'm really pleased with that though. I went round a huge shopping mall with two close friends and didn't overspend. When I saw something I liked I asked myself if I really needed it - the answer was no 99% of the time! I think not having a credit card to hand definitely helps with the no impulse spends.

Well done on your Amazon and ebay sales Chocs, I've given up on selling any more of our bits left on Amazon! :o

No, I didn't get the BB email, have checked my spam box too but no sign of it. £2K is a great anount to win, especially with Christmas in a couple of weeks! How did they win it? I'm more than happy with our luck so far on there! I'm sure my bonus must be coming to an end soon though, will have to check it tomorrow.

Hope you managed to have a relaxing weekend after your late night at work on Friday.

  • £100 is fabulous; I am so pleased for you. It also sounds like you had a good weekend and not too stressful on the money front. When I mentioned that someone won £2k in a week, bear in mind it didn't say how much they had spent on tickets. I suspect a lot because most of the games don't have a very big prize. Winning £100 on a free stake is even better! I had a nice day yesterday at a friend's housewarming party which seemed to go on forever (in a nice way!). Today has been spent doing a few jobs, cooking etc. I had the radio on today and heard lots of carols, so I'm feeling Christmassy now. And only a week and a bit to go at work - hurrah! How long are you taking off work at Christmas?

  • Thanks Chocs X Yes, it was a lovely weekend thanks, and, as you said, not a huge spend weekend either.

Ah, yes, I see. That's what I thought about the 2k one as the prizes are not often that high are they. Saying that, if I'd got the full house 5 numbers earlier last night then we would've won 2K as it was under 50 balls or whatever they call it. I'm not moaning about my £100 though!

Glad you had a good weekend too. Your day of pottering and cooking sounds fab too, I love days where I get chance to do little things like that and have nothing else on. :D

I'm counting the days until I finish work for Christmas too. We've both taken a few days off and, as it works out, that gives us 10 days off over Christmas, not going back until the 4th of January, so I'm REALLY looking forward to having some time off. It seems like a long time since I had a week off; thinking about it, it must have been in May!

    Hope your week flies by

  • Monday again, and I really could've done with staying in my bed for a bit longer this morning; I think the weekend's catching up with me now.

On the money front, the sofa payment has come out over the weekend, leaving that now at £927. Nice to see it under 1K.

10p on one scratchcard this morning, couldn't get the other to work so shall do that tonight, alongside withdrawing the £100 we won and playing through today's bonuses. :T

I have raided my £2 jar today as owe £4 for a gift at work. I don't like to take the coins out of there, but thought that better than taking £10 out of the cashpoint / bank account as the other £6 would also go way too quickly!

I might need to pop by a shop and pick up some bananas and bread this week, but other than that, we don't need a bean (literally), so minimum spends this week. It's payday on Friday, but it's a week early, so we need to 'pretend' it's not there for a week otherwise it'll be a LOOOONG slog until January's payday!

    Have a good day all
