Sorry you are still feeling rough. Maybe tune into Classic FM for a bit for a virtual carol concert....
So far I have spent my day off working from home , so nothing exciting done yet. I've quite a few errands to run, so I think I'll do those after lunch and then come back and watch a DVD (aka snuggle on the sofa and fall asleep after half an hour!) I have one of those DVD subscriptions but I'm terrible at getting round to watching them. At least it is always a surprise when I put them on as I invariably can't remember which discs I put on my wish list.Mortgage, draw down Sept 2014: £222,000

I don't believe this, I just typed a big long essay and it's all disappeared.:mad::mad:
Cant be doing all that again, so here's the shortened version:
Still off sick, got a stupid cough now that's keeping me up at night.
Hubby got paid more than expected this month (as he'd started a new job mid-way through the month). He got £200 more than expected, so he has been able to put more in the household budget and is going to pay for all treats/fun/extras until the next payday. :T:A(starting with my cough medicine at £6 a bottle! :lipsrseal).
10p & 25p on scratchcards, no win for hubby on BB today.
I've 'hidden' my salary in our e-saver account for the next week, so we don't spend January's money this month! I want to keep the two budgets separate so this is the best way for the next week. I will, however be paying off the 'big chunk' credit card payment today as that doesn't matter if paid off early, in fact, the sooner the better!
I defrosted one freezer yesterday as was half empty - transferred everything to the other little one we have to save a few pennies on electric over Christmas. We shall re-stock it after Christmas when back from my parents house.
I've bunged some chicken portions in the slow cooker this morning, with some 'eat me now or lose me' mushrooms and peppers from the bottom of the fridge and some herbs and stock. Sure it will magic into something scrummy and comforting for tonight's dinner with a bit of mashed potato.
Thanks for the carol concert suggestion yesterday Chocs - I put some old time carols on the ipod and listened to them all afternoon, shall be doing the same today.
Shall be entering some comps today methinks, just to keep me from total boredom and feeling sorry for myself-ness.
Have a good day all

Just paid £392.50 off the credit card, bringing the total to... (cue drum roll)... £750!! :j:j:j Finally, it's under 1K! Only 2 more months until this is paid off and then we'll be free of credit card debt and can start tackling the loan overpayments.0

Well done DFSD:j:j. I dont post much but i read your thread everyday..yes i am obsessed by MSE. I cant believe that your credit card bill is only £750! I remember when it was £4000. You have achieved so much and are making great progress. Hope you have a great christmas and have as much enthusiasm for debt busting in 2010 :T

Hi WABL - yes, I am also obsessed! I read a lot of threads most days, and follow the progress of lots of people, I find it helps keep me motivated.
Thanks for your kind words, it's hard to believe we ever owed that much on credit cards now, I don't know how I ever slept at night.
Have a wonderful Christmas too WABL. It's been such a tough year for many people in different ways and I just hope everyone can have a bit of time out and relaxation over the Christmas period.
Take care

Right, that's about 6 or 7 pages of comps entered, hopefully some little wins may come our way!
Very non MSE of me, but I have the heating on, and I'm now off to have a hot bath to try and warm up a bit more!

Hi DFSD
Congratulations on getting the CC balance sub £1,000 - that's amazing progress you have made.
It's absolutely freezing so you definitely need the heating on - particularly when you are still poorly; the bugs don't like the heat. I got a microwave quite recently, mainly with the intention of heating up meals in an efficient way. I have done this, but I think its main use has been heating up one of those wheat beanbag things to use as a hot water bottle. It is lovely.
I've had a nice evening at friends catching up and eating some Xmas goodies. Actually, rather a lot of Xmas goodies- I suppose it's training for next week!
Hope you start to feel better this weekend,

No wins on bingo today, 2 x 10p on scratchcards.
Good news is we've taken the £100 won on bingo last week out of hiding from the e-saver account and have paid it off the virgin card, so balance now stands at £650. :j

Wow, you are getting that CC balance close to £500 :A. That's fabulous.
Well, some of your lucky bingo dust has come my way. I played a free bingo game and won a small amount. I placed that on Deal or No Dea! bingo, mainly out of nosiness to see how it worked, and won £130! It was quite exciting. When you win full house, it's like the TV show where you are offered a fixed amount (roughly the average of the amounts in the remaining boxes) or you open your box. The other players vote on which they would go for, but it is the winner's decision which to pick. The vote was 50:50. I went for the average because it was £60 and there were a few sub £5 amounts. I should have gone for the box as it was £100, but hey, with the full house money it's still £130.
My £15 a day challenge wasn't looking so good, but I just might make it now.
I'm very pleased you are on the mend. Hope you have a nice weekend,

Well done on the win Chocs, that's fabulous! Your £15 a day total is looking very healthy too, especially considering it's technically the most expensive time of year.
Well I think our luck on the bingo has run out now as we've has no wins to report for a while; only 10p's on the scratchcards too, with the odd 25p now and then.
Have been out and about today, it's freezing! We also had some snow which settled overnight, but has mostly gone now. Hubby bought us lunch and paid for parking etc.
We have 3 watchers on our ebay item, hopefully that will sell.
I spent £33 on a pair of new boots as seen on the grabbit board (were £120!) a couple of nights ago. The pair I bought a few months ago are now ready for the bin, so am looking forward to nice warm toasty feet when they are delivered, hopefully tomorrow.
Not much other news really so I shan't waffle on anymore.
