  • Well I didn't enter many more competitions last night, but I have done a few this morning.

Had a relatively productive evening last night - cooking a surprisingly lovely meal from some turkey mince and a butternut squash, from which I'm having leftovers for lunch today :D (is it lunch time yet? is it? is it?).

We then did a bit of a 'stocktake' of everything we have in the freezer and wrote it all down, planning meals with the ingredients we have in the house for the next week. ;) Also managed to cross a few things off the shopping list that I didn't realise we already had lurking in the freezer.

I also made some 'hit or miss muffins' with the little bit of remainng flour and sugar etc. I had in the baking cupboard to use it up, and some tinned tropical fruit thrown in for good measure. Thankfully they were a hit, although it was looking like an almost certified 'miss' before they went in the oven... had to chuck a bit more liquid in the mixture and hope for the best! :o Hubby has taken some for snacks at work today. Of course, we had to sample a few last night :whistle:which took me over my ww points for the day, but have cut my points today to claw them back.

Still no money made / saved for the mini challenge to pay credit card off a month early, will have a look at more options for that at the weekend.

Another NSD for me today too. :D

Off to so some work and then enter some more competitions at lunch time. :D

Hi DFSD, sorry I haven't been on for a while to say hello. You seem to be doing fantastically well .

I have been sooooo busy lately with life in general. I have kind of taken on a bit too much lately with 3 jobs and getting myself all a bit stressed to be honest. My DD started school 4 weeks ago and I managed to get a little job in the shop in the village next door in the day times whilst she is at school. The now means that I am a WW leader 2 nights a week, work in the shop in the daytimes and work at the restaurant 3 nights a week. I've ended up with a cold for a month followed by flu and a dodgy rash that the doc thinks is stress related so something is going to have to go. I think sadly, it will have to be the WW leader job as it is the one I earn the least amount of money for. Financially, it has been good but I have ended up with egg on my face as this week I have been signed off sick for the week with flu so this week I will get no wages at all (must look into whether I can get SSP). We are doing some work on the house at the moment, we are rebuilding our porch (debt free stylie!) the bricks we bought off ebay, the door and windows we bought off ebay, the roof tiles are free from my next door neighbour, so the only things we have needed to buy is the sand and cement and the blood sweat and tears (of my OH mainly!).

Glad to hear you are doing well with WW, if you need any advice or motivation, pm me!

One day maybe I will be debt free :o
  • Hi WABL - I make all of my muffins from the recipes on website https://www.muffin recipes.co.uk (close the gap). I find the ingredients really cheap, usually stuffwe already have in the cupboard, and they never fail - even if I do stray from the recipes a bit like last night!

Hey skysky! Lovely to hear from you again, I was wondering how you were getting along just the other day actually.

Sounds like you've been extremely busy - don't overwork yourself now missus, it's not worth it if it leaves you stressed, especially with your DD starting school and Christmas around the corner. Sounds like your health is already suffering if you haven't been able to shake the cold for a while - look after yourself and take time out when you can eh?

As for WW - yes, that's no good if you haven't had any wages this week because of lack of sick pay. Maybe it's something you could consider coming back to later on maybe when things are easier?

As for me and WW - thanks for the offer of help, I may take you up on that! I know what I need to do, it's just poor planning or a bad day that lets me down. Although I am taking a day at a time now and telling myself it will definitely work if I follow it, if I really want to eat the cake / chocolate / whatever then it won't work - simple! It's working for me right now...:o

Your porch sounds brilliant! What a great MSE extension! That'll be great for the winter too to shove muddy / wet shoes and brollies in. Well done on the bargain hunting - just make sure you crack the whip with OH to get it done quickly! :rotfl:

Thanks for popping by, lovely to hear from you again

Am due to get a refund of £18 to my debit card for something I bought last week which I'm taking back tonight. So, as that £18 would've been out of my bank account anyway, I have paid it off the credit card instead, leaving £164.92 left to pay off the credit card as February's final payment. Just need to find another £164.92 now to pay it off by January instead!

This little payment has also knocked a month off the Lloyds loan Debt free date, taking that to March 2011 provided all overpayments are made as planned from Feb next year. ;):T It really is surprising how much these little amounts all help.

Credit card balance now at £1712 - hmmm, that £12 is gonna bug me, I'll try and find a way of getting rid of that before payday!

  • £7 has hit my bank account this morning from doing some surveys, so I've paid it off the credit card, leaving the balance now at £1705. :T
Just  £157.92 left to find for February challenge now...
  • Well, I had a lovely weekend - all the family feeling relatively well for a change, lots of laughs, lots of relaxation... and now back to Monday with a bump - Mum really ill again today (likely to end up being rushed back into hospital), work is awful (the immature idiots I work with have taken to passing notes to each other about me today like schoolkids - they're in their 30s, one with a child !!!!!!!). I'm not feeling particularly well myself today - I was up at 4am feeling rough for some unknown reason. The budget has been well and truly blown this weekend (I got into that 's0d it' state of mind) and we'll be overdrawn by quite a bit this month.

    Goodness, I hate Mondays.

  • Mum has been rushed to hospital again this morning, I'll just have to sit and wait for news today and try and carry on as normal at work. Doing my best to ignore the idiots here today. Fled from work early yesterday, couldn't take any more of it and was still feeling rough. Feeling better today but not 100%.

Have entered some competitions this morning to keep my mind off things and keep me occupied for half an hour.

Checked the bank balance this morning - we're overdrawn already which I expected. The first payment for our sofas has come out though so at least we've started paying those off now. 11 more payments to go! (It's at 0% for a year).

Off to update signature and try and cope with the day the best I can.

  • Trying to keep my mind occupied, so I've worked out the budget for next month, taking the overdraft into account:

Estimated overdraft at end of this month: £208 (should be around this figure unless there's anything I've forgotten about).

    Money in: £2230

    Money out:
    Bills: £700
    Loans: 385.23
    Petrol & Groceries: £300
Credit card: £311 (overpaying by £100 less than usual month to make up for my c*ck up with sofa payment)
    Sofa payment: £103
Tax / ins. pot savings: £100

    Total left: £330
    minus overdraft of £208 = £122 remaining.

Out of this next month, I need to buy myself a pair of jeans as I only have one pair that I am wearing practically every day now :o (washing and drying in the evenings!:p) as my other pair had to go to the dustbin with holes in.
Also need a pair of shoes as the two pairs I have both have holes in and are embarrassingly tatty. One pair I've had over 10 years! :o Will be able to get jeans for a tenner in New look and Shoes, will get a cheapish pair for £20 or so, so that's about £100 left.
We need to spend about £40 more on Christmas presents - that leaves £60 left. Then I need to buy a few bits for the garden for the winter - probably about a tenner's worth, so £50 left. Should be fine for 'unexpected things'.

Just need to spend no money for the next ten days until payday now... :o
