  • Urgh, what a long day...

I've been feeling a bit impatient today on the debt-clearing front. I'm itching to pay off some more and get rid of this pesky credit card so we can start overpaying the loan. I'll have to wait another week until it's payday though.

We haven't been doing great on the 'making extra money' front lately. Most of our stuff on Amazon has sold; I think we have 11 items left on there but these are of relatively low value and have been on for a while. I do have a few things that I can ebay but we're still a camera-less household. We've also exhausted the music magpie stash of cds and dvds too! We've decided not to do another car boot sale until next year now that the weather is colder and we've given the table back to my Dad who kindly lent it to us for a while.

I've been checking out or snowball for inspiration and to motivate myself a bit. Have found it a bit depressing though to be honest, with all these months ahead of us. Hasn't had the desired effect today.

Think I'll pootle off and go and check out some other diaries for a while to get me back in the DFW mindset.

  • What a lovely, lovely day off! I've been in the house all day as hubby needed the car for work, so I've been busy cleaning the house through, sorting out stuff, have done 5  loads of washing and hung to dry and prepared the veg for dinner tonight. I feel thoroughly energised and feel like I've achieved a lot today!
I also found another item to put on amazon this morning; so I did that earlier and it's sold already for £6.77 profit! This will be paid off the credit card leaving balance now at £2282.18. I can't wait until this time next week when it will be under the 2k mark after paying off about £540. :j

Tesco's have taken the money out for the mattress so hopefully the order will go through ok even though it was a mis price. I see on the grabbit board done people have received confirmation letters for their order but I haven't had one yet.

Off to hang the last load of washing on the line!

  • Hi DFSD, just reading your second last post about running out of things to sell. Have you tried selling any old mobiles on mazuma mobile. I sold threeold contract phones that had been lying about for ages the other day and made £83. Im sure you cant wait to see the cc balance go under 2k-that will be just the boost you need to get rid of the rest of it. well done:j:j

  • Hiya WABL - yes, I did try the one old phone we had lying around the house a little while ago, but they would only give us £1 for it (it's a VERY old brick!). Thought we may as well keep it for a spare if that's all we'd get for it! Thanks for the suggestion though.

  • Another little sale on Amazon yesterday - £2.64 - which will be paid off the virgin card shortly. :T

Also made a little bit on a couple of surveys over the weekend - £3 to paypal for one, and nearly have enough to withdraw £5 to paypal from another survey account. :D

I've also had some real Christmas shopping bargains over the weekend, thanks to the grabbit board. I took advantage of the boots website glitch, so got three presents for the price of one. :D Also bought hubby something from the Debenhams clearance section with the 20% off code and free delivery. :D Used the 2 for 3 on the M&S website and bought 6 bottles of bubble bath / handwash for £3 with the free delivery code :D and got a stunt kite for £2.90 off the 95 pence website (with delivery). :T

All this has come out of next month's budget so have got a good way ahead with the Christmas shopping without it going on the credit card like last year. :D

  • Amazon sales now paid off virgin card, balance now at £2279.54. Four days until it's sub 2k! :D
  • Hi DFSD
Just wanted to say have just read most of your diary and am feeling really motivated to get on with cutting my credit card debt! I know there will be times when it all feels too much but the amount you have managed to pay off has really motivated me to get started!!!

Wish me luck and thanks for sharing your experience!
  • Hi Bubbles - you've done well to read through all this - never knew how much I could ramble on before starting this diary!

Good luck with your debt repayments, I guess I learnt that every little bit you can make / save helps really to pay off the debts, no matter how big.

    Best of luck!

  • My quest for Christmas shopping bargains continues!...

I managed to order 3 toys on the boots website for half the price of 1 during their website glitch, so got £96 worth of pressies for £19. :D
Unless I see any extremely cheap bargains from now on, will have to wait and continue when I get October's pay now, as need to leave some for any unexpected expenses that may arise (as they do).
Just got to wait for all my parcels to turn up now and then they will be quickly wrapped (with the bargain paper we bought last year!) so they're out of sight!

I have another survey invitation in my inbox this morning. Will do that when I get home tonight, if it's not too late by then. Might take me to payout for £5 then. :D

The cupboards are still well stocked so we don't need any more shopping for a while yet. The car is just over half full of petrol, so guess we'll need to fill it up again after the weekend, which will come out of next month's petrol budget.

Three days and counting (or technically two as it doesn't come out of the bank account immediately) until I can pay a big whack off of the credit card. :j I get so excited about payday for different reasons now - mainly so I can clear another chunk of debt and watch the card balance go down!

  • Well done on getting the bargain toys at Boots! You are so organised.

I'll be looking out for your lower balance on the Virgin card.

    Best wishes
