  • Just realised I only need to make an extra payment of £14.62 to the virgin card to knock a month off the 'virgin cc debt free date' from Feb 2010 to Jan 2010. :T So... off I go to make an extra payment out of the 'leftover money' leaving that pot now at £35 though for the rest of the month which should be ok... :D

  • Pah. Just realised the 'no overpayments' loan finishes in 2013, not 2012 as I thought. S'pose I should've just looked at my signature to see that...

Guess we'll consider saving to overpay it sometime in the future then, as and when we can, but it's not going to be a priority once all others are cleared!

    How flippin' annoying.

  • Back to the grind! Another weekend come and gone - why does the week not fly by so quickly?!

We had to fork out for a new tyre this weekend - £68 - not as bad as I expected as the tyres on our car are quite big. This came out of the tax / insurance / car pot which means we'll have to put a bit extra in it next month.

Went for a nice walk yesterday; also had a rare treat of a big lunch out which cost £16.50 for the two of us. We've taken this out of the groceries budget this month as we're way under budget with that this month.

Also bought a present for our friends little boy - £10 - and bought a Christmas present for hubby on behalf of his mother (£30) which I should get the money back for soon.

Hubby Mum asked us to order her some stuff through Sainsbury's online last night, so we got some extra nectar points via that order. :D

Just got to focus on staying awake today as am struggling to keep my eyes open!

Mondays are always here way too quickly aren't they. Hope you manage to wake up a bit.
  • Yay - a sale from Amazon! :T The book I listed last week has sold for £6.77 profit so I've paid that straight off the credit card - balance now at £2155.08.
  • Today I've been having another little looky at all our debts and have realised that, after all payments have been made this month, our total debt shall be under 20K! :T It's still loads, I know, but it's been reduced by around 14K or so in the past 15 months so 'we 'ain't done bad' in my book.

It feels like another little milestone ticked off the list.

We also only have another 5 payments left before the credit card's paid off (including this month's payment), so that's great to see on our snowball - I can't wait!

  • Hey,

seen in your signature that you are paying money to GE Money, how has your experience with them been so far ? Mine has been terrible !

  • Hi Claire

Yes - we have a loan with GE Money, which is about 2 years old now (although they're now Santander I believe).

I don't want to speak too soon, but we haven't had any trouble with them so far - they just take their money every month and I hear nothing from them! I get the occasional statement telling me I still owe them loads of money but that's about it. It annoys me that I can't overpay that one though.

What sort of trouble have you had with them? Was it a loan or credit / store card?
  • Its a loan. I have had nothing but trouble from them and weatherseal (weatherseal sales person to start of the problem and ge money have just continued with more). I dont like them at all. Various problems.

To pay off the loan early (which its self is currently £3000) i would have to pay another £3000 as a charge for paying it off early !
  • WHAT? That's absolutely crazy! How on earth can they get away with that - it's daylight robbery!
I haven't looked into early repayment charges with them yet as I very much doubt we'll be in the position to pay that one off early. Will have to check out the paperwork tonight though and see what the terms of that are *just in case we win the lottery*!

Really hope you can get the issue sorted with them though, is there anyone you can complain to about that ridiculous figure?
