That's so funny about the parcel. You know, I always worry about that happening if I put my return address on. Usually I forget in any case, but occasionally if it is worth a bit, I put my surname, house number and postcode.
I've just started using the print your own postage. The post office near my work has horrendous queues - last week I was there for half an hour just to post one thing because there were 80 people in front of me! I hadn't realised that you could print on line and then, if the item is too bulky to put in a letterbox, just hand it over at the fast drop counter without queuing. So that's what I'll be doing next time. And I need to get listing on Ebay, Amazon etc as I'm lagging behind in the £10 a day challenge!
Have a great day!Mortgage, draw down Sept 2014: £222,000

Yes, just had our house number, street and postcode on!
Oh well, better that than completely lost in the post I guess.
The print your own thing sounds like a good idea - unfortunately we don't have a printer anymore (go rid of it as we never used it!) so that's out for us. I just send hubby to the post office most days in his lunch hour! :rotfl:

Thanks for your lovely comments guys,
I certainly don't feel inspirational (especially not this morning, can barely keep my eyes open!:rotfl:) but am glad this diary has helped a few other people to believe they can do something abut their debts.
Well done on the book sale Wendy - it's a fab feeling isn't it!0 -
One of my ebay items has bids on this morning :j and about 4 others have watchers. Have listed another item this morning and sent hubby off to work with yesterday's Amazon sale to post.
Tried to fix our laptop last night to no avail, so a friend has taken it off to a little friendly shop he knows who are going to look at it for free and then give us the prognosis. Not quite sure what we're going to do if it is beyond repair as we need one at home for hubby to do his coursework on and rely on it quite heavily. We don't have £300 - £400 spare at the moment (or ever!) to buy a new one, so the only option I can think of is to shove it on the egg card, but I really REALLY don't want to have to do that.Any suggestions. bar the lottery or selling a kidney?!

A bit of a boring, non debt-busting day today really.
Am feeling a bit frustrated and panicky today about just how long it's gonna take us to get rid of these debts and how old we will be by the time we can afford to have kids IF we are able to and not too grey and old by then. Also frustrated that I can't start saving for the future yet, (we no longer have any savings, since starting the debt-busting!) and we really need to.
We spoke to a financial advisor a little while ago and he suggested that although it's great that we're focusing so hard on paying our debts off, we should also consider having a savings 'pot' - somewhere to start putting a little away each month for emergencies and covering the cost of things that break unexpectedly... like most of our household appliances have decided to do these past few months!:rolleyes:
I can see the sense in his advice, but I just don't know where we'll get the extra money from.
Sometimes I wonder whether we should pull back a little, not overpay quite so much, and save a bit, meaning that our debt free date would be further away but we wouldn't have to shove 'emergencies' on the credit card. But then on the other hand, I totally understand the principle of' saving money whilst you have debts' is pointless. Plus, I don't know if, mentally, I could bear to delay our debt free date any more!
Oh what to do. Answers on a postcard please?!
Other news is that I'm likely to get a 1% payrise this year... :rolleyes:0 -
Forgot to mention a few other things...
£6.84 is due to be paid out this month from Quidco, will be nice if it goes up a bit before payout day!Have also chased them up about £20 which is still not showing as validated.
Ebay - someone has emailed to ask about multiple postage discount, so have some interest there.
Have to take a couple of items back to town at the weekend for a refund - (some of the clothes I ordered earlier in the month that I don't like on me! In true DFW stylee I'm more excited about getting a refund than having new clothes!), should net about £17 back into account.
Have worked out that, with no more extra spends than those budgeted for, will possibly actually have a few pounds left in the bank account this month before pay day - ie. no overdraft nibbling! Hope I haven't spoken too soon now...
Also - it's sunny and slightly breezy today so gonna whack all the washing on when I get home and will actually be able to dry it outside (hopefully). I'm trying to look on the bright side of our dryer being broken - just think of all the money I'll be saving on electricity!

Gosh, you are busy, busy, busy. I must admit to having a few savings "just in case". I hope not to dip into them and the real plan is that they will form part of my pension. However, it does give me peace of mind that the money is there. I suppose it depends whether you are concerned about having savings. If there is capacity to spend on your credit card if and when you need it and you are happy with that arrangement, I suppose that making debt repayments the priority is probably the better answer.
Don't know about the computer. I think mine is nearing the end of its life too - it's getting slower and slower. Not looked to see how much they are and just hoping it lasts a few more months.Mortgage, draw down Sept 2014: £222,000
