  • Thanks Raini! It's that frustrating time of the month now though - pay day about a week away, very little/no money left and wanting to make payments of the debts with no means to do so... I'm just impatient! :p
  • I've transferred £23.73 from Paypal into the bank account this morning, so I guess it will be early next week before it hits the account. (Why IS it so slow?! - much like Amazon!).
I won't be able to put this towards the credit card as planned though as we need it in the bank account, :( because.... £25 for some plants and bulbs I pre-ordered for the garden, months ago, was due to come out of my account at the end of September, and they've taken it out today. Grrrr. I hadn't budgeted for that this month and it will now send us overdrawn.:mad::mad:

I think we have an odd £50 sitting in the remnants of our once, reasonably- healthy ISA :o so I'm going to transfer enough of that out to cover the overdraft, which I've estimated will be about £35 with postage from ebay too. That's budgeting an extra £30 for petrol too, as the tank is low and hubby has some driving round for work to do the next couple of days.

We have our laptop back:j, it seems to be ok although I've only just turned it on and haven't reloaded everything or used it properly yet. Will try it out tonight if I can muster u the will to do so!

We've got a night away this weekend. The only expense I can forsee is petrol (which will hopefully be shared:o), and maybe breakfast for the two of us on the Sunday morning. We've already paid for the cheapy hotel a few months ago with a £15 off voucher we were emailed cutting the cost down further. :D
Wish we were having a quiet-stay-at-home weekend instead to be honest! Cheaper and more relaxing!

  • After a quiet spell, we've had a little sale of £1.75 on Amazon. :D Will transfer that to the credit card as soon as the bank balance is all settled and everything's out that needs to be out!

I've transferred £50 out of our isa (leaving the balance at the grand sum of £4-something!:(). Gonna try and pay this in to the main account as cash today or tomorrow so that we're not overdrawn this month and can start from a positive balance in the account when we get paid. We shouldn't be in the overdraft because of this, the only thing that may b*gger it up is the egg card...

This morning I've transferred the balance back over to virgin from egg as virgin offered us 0% again for the next 10 months:j. Even with the 2.98% balance transfer fee, it will be cheaper for us to go back to them, albeit not by a lot.
Anyway, the egg card minimum payment comes out by direct debit on the 23rd usually, I'm hoping they don't try and take the minimum out before the balance has gone from that card as that may send us overdrawn by about £20. (Ok, I know it's only £20 and it's an agreed overdraft but it bothers me!;)). We'll have to wait and see what happens I guess.

That's great news on the 0% offer. Surely that will save you loads in interest. Well done on the Amazon sale and your weight loss is amazing!! You sure can manage alot in your life. I'm just stressed selling my business. Couldn't think about dieting and budgeting as well.
    Well done you. x
Would love to earn an extra £40 a Week. Trying to find ways to :-)
  • Been a bit slack with the diary updates the last few days. Still need to reinstall everything on the laptop so don't have working internet access at home at the moment.

It's pay day tomorrow, so I've paid £300 off the credit card as per usual. Total now at £2212.28. Will take a look at how much overtime I get and see if we can afford to chuck an extra £100 at it as well.

Have also ordered a much-needed mattress. Half price deal on Tesco, with double clubcard points too. ;)

We had a weekend away this weekend and I'm knackered from all the traveling. Was fairly DF-friendly, but did spend quite a bit on petrol, although have allowed us an extra £50 in the budget this month to cover a few extra journeys.

We went to a friend of the family's house for a meal and celebration event type thingy. Although it was a lovely weekend, it's left me feeling quite miserable. Their house and garden is wonderful, it's how I imagined my dream house to be, and they have amazingly well-paid, flexible jobs, beautiful children, time and money for leisure activities, hobbies that I would love to get into if I could afford to... I shan't go on anymore.
It just makes me feel like I could have made so much more of my life if I'd made different decisions. I feel like a big fat failure who has achieved nothing. There is no prospect of progression within my career, I don't even like what I do, I loathe my job and am simply here to pay the bills and debts. I just wish things were different. :( I had lots of options available to me when I left college - I went on to study something I liked doing, which I was reasonably ok at, but unfortunately only the select few get careers out of.

I have been looking at starting up my own business from home over the last few years. I tried and failed with one enterprise, and lost lots of money through it. Looking back, I was so unprepared and had no idea what I was doing but just wanted to do something that I loved. Oh well, I guess I should just resign myself to the fact I'm stuck here with no real prospects. :(

Anyway, onto other things that I can tackle, (albeit slowly), the last of my ebay items finished today for £2.99 in postage :o. Need to pack it up and send it as soon as I get paid for it. No more Amazon sales yet...

Goodness me, I'm a miserable s*d today:mad:, I shall shut up and climb back under my rock I think...

It doesn't hurt to offload every now and again, we all need that. If you really want to work for yourself, perhaps research your idea thoroughly before you start to minimise the risks.
Think of your job as a stop gap until you get to enjoy something better, that's how I look at mine a lot of the time when I start to feel as though I am going to go mad having to work another late shift or weekend when all I want to do is be at home with the family etc.

Keep up the ebay, it all helps.
  • yeah, thanks YB, I know I should really try and look at it like that. Unfortunately I can't ever see anything better coming along though that is as well paid or better paid! The money is ok in my current job - (about 21k which I consider a lot, thousands wouldn't!).
As for the business thing, not really sure what I want to do to be honest, I know something creative but can't think of a 'niche' that will allow me to run a business and earn a decent enough wage to live on. Guess I'll just have to wait for my lottery win eh?!

It's pay day today :D so I've been moving some money around this morning.
Got just over £172 in overtime this month which was about £25 less than I was expecting but is better than nothing! Out of this we have spent £124.50 on a new mattress and the rest has gone towards an extra credit card payment which I've made up to £100 with a bit from the main account we could spare. So, we've paid off £400 already this month. :D Balance now at £2188.24. I can't wait until next month when it will be in the 1,000's range.

I've paid back the £80 I borrowed from the tax & insurance savings pot for the laptop repair, and I've added another £70 in there for this month's savings. I've upped the money we put in that pot from £50 to £70 a month as it wasn't quite enough as some of our one off bills are quite close together.

Also paid hubby back the £40 I owed him, so after all the planned 'outgoings' there is £160 left for anything else that may crop up. I have two birthday presents to buy (which I'd forgotten about in my birthday list!) and may try and get at least one or two other Christmas presents this month. I would also like to get a plant for the house and may have to shell out a couple of quid for posting the last ebay parcel - I'm gonna leave the little bit left in paypal to mount up now. Hopefully, anything else left over will be paid off the credit card!

I have my spending diary started and going well, and am recording petrol and grocery spends this month too. Am finding it much easier writing it all in my little filofax I keep in my bag, if I do it immediately then I don't forget! :o

Weighed myself this morning and I've lost 4lbs this week, which is now 7lbs in total:j. Am really chuffed, especially as I'm doing it alone and have saved money by not joining weight watchers and not getting obsessive in counting points or anything - just watching what I eat and being good! I've also upped my exercise which helped me sleep well last night, I'm sure. :D Must saying I am missing the achievement stickers though... should've got a silver seven this morning!:D:rotfl:

Not quite sparkly but near as I could get lol

I actually think 21k is good, that's what my OH earns and he is the main wage earner. I think the more you earn the more you'll spend anyway.
