    Hi wam

Great news on the Amazon listings. Sometimes it takes a little while for things to sell, but the good thing about Amazon is that you're not being charged for listing them - only charged when they sell which is taken out of the profits. There is a really useful thread about selling on Amazon somewhere on these boards - if you do a search of the forums you should be able to find it quite easily.

As for diaries - go for it! I'll be your first subscriber! :D
Just go to the debt-free diaries page and hit the 'NEW THREAD' button above the green bar on the left. Good luck and try and keep it up as it's really really helpful. I'm sure I wouldn't have got this far if I'd dismissed this diary after a few weeks. Let me know when you have a brand spanking new shiny diary on the go... :D

    Thank you,
Think I've found the amazon thread.
Posted my first thread too. It's all a little time consuming lol don't know how you do it. Been sat in frount comp all morning and got loads of paperwork I should be doing. This is much more fun tho.

  • Yes, it becomes quite addictive! I have MSE withdrawal symptoms after too long!
  • £2.50 sale on Amazon this afternoon - woo hoo! :j
  • What a nice change to wake up to sunshine! It's a lovely day here today, hopefully will be tomorrow too as I have the day off. :D:j

Today hubby is posting the two Amazon sales from yesterday, I've already transferred the amount made to the virgin card to pay it off a little more. Today I also had to alter a booking for car parking we made when we go away for the weekend break we won - I got a £2.47 refund from changing the date slightly, so I've paid £2.50 off the virgin card too as it's money we wouldn't have had!

Virgin card balance now at **Cue drum roll ** £2492.28.

Last night we had some advice from a friend of a friend who is an independent financial advisor. He pretty much said that we were doing the right thing - paying off all the debts first and then focus on saving as quickly as we can for when the car needs replacing, things need fixing etc, so we never need to worry about credit again. He also advised us about life cover for hubby as he doesn't have any at present, mine comes with my job, and critical illness cover for both of us, so we need to sort that out next. There's always something!

  • Hello DFSD

I have never posted before. But I think now is a good time to start. My overdraft stands at £616 and some odd pence and it is the 6th of the month. I just asked my bank for a loan to pay said overdraft off and they refused saying I was not a good credit risk. Fume as I have no CCJs or anything. Do you mind if I do post now and again. I think writing things down may help me to start getting my head around the massive changes I need to make.
In Shackles to the debt God to the tune of nearly £4000 but at least my sigs got pretty colours in it!
    Barclaycard £3000 :p
    Tesco Credit Card £1233.84 :p
    Argos £328.54 :p
    Total: £4652.38 :p
  • Hi Granny :hello:

Of course I don't mind if you post - the more the merrier!

As for the overdraft, I guess 'damage limitation' is the key this month, in trying to add to it as little as possible. It may not feel like it now, but in the long run it may be a good thing that you weren't able to take out a loan to repay your overdraft as it would mean you would be in much more debt. Maybe try and see this month as the month things are turned round in your favour - the month when you start taking control and not letting the bank control you!:D

Obviously I don't know your circumstances, but suggestions would be to try and keep a spending diary until you next get paid, limiting all spending to absolute essentials only.

Write a list of what is in your cupboards / fridge / freezer at home and see if you can plan some meals around those. There's also lots of threads on the oldstyle moneysaving board about eating and running a household cheaply - there's even one about feeding yourself or 50p a day.

    Good luck

  • Thank you for being so lovely and supportive.

As for me, I'm not really a granny - only 43 with only a few grey hairs and I work full time and have a very dear son who is a teenager!!

I will get myself a spending diary at lunchtime and start meal planning tonight when I get home. Thank you for your sound advice and I will let you know how I get on.

Good luck on your journey too, Debt Free x
