James i actually think the car we had was a Z3 convertible. Think the Z4 is a bit more desirable.

I'm kinda done with high performance cars. My last one SLK 300 I bought three years ago - great car but no where to drive it! I had it for a year then flogged it for not much less than it cost me new. UK roads are just too clogged up to enjoy HP cars. I used to have a TR6 as a second car, and would take it out in the middle of the night, thrashing around the M25 and A21 with the hood down , at (hmmmm) above the legal speed limit ;) Probably as much fun you'll get with your trousers on unless you've got one of these http://www.pitts.org.uk/ and -no - I don't fly any longer either!

I now drive a year old Peugeot 307 I bought at a Motability auction six months ago - 7,000 miles and half the price it cost new. Gets me from A to B without any hassle and not have to worry where I park it!

Poor litle mr b - his addiction to me is 'like heroin'!

    How bizarre.

    I'm soooo dull.

Can't understand what adrock et al are on about - I have no idea at all who adrock is, or what I'm supposed to have said to him/her. Other than the comments on this thread, I have no 'feelings' about adrock or any of these other online entities.

I do, however, have strong feelings about house prices.

That's why I bother to post here and read here.

Others are welcome to disagree with my views.

If they do it sensibly, my respect for them increases and my views change - I've learnt a lot here.

If they post nonsense, expect to be cut down to size, by me or other posters; this is a public forum, after all, and people reading posts on a Money Saving site deserve to be 'saved' from posts that are going to encourage them to make extremely expensive mistakes.

    Have a good day all!

    Keep on posting Carol

Don't let the bullies drive you away.

Some posters get abusive and it isn not right. They make themsleves look stupid and mean and selfish.

Rise above it and maintain your dignity.

Just for the record, I've tried to make my peace with ISTL in a private message, and won't duel with him again about Aberdeen - not that I'm claiming to be fully right about Aberdeen's property price prospects anyway, as he makes some good points himself.
Anyway, I'll lay off Aberdeen topics from now on, so don't be a softy and come back to the forum soon.

I don't want to stop your fun or have bad feeling. Yes I disagree with you, fear for your choices, but I won't be actively posting about Aberdeen from now on so as to limit possible conflicts with you again.

LOL, I have never had a problem with your views on Aberdeen, or any other area for that matter.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion.

What I couldn't stand was your repeated mis-quoting of me.
I asked you on many occasions to back up your quote of me which you have never done.

    Why thank you carol.
From recollection you are of a similar age to myself.

Mind you, I believe in the saying that your only as young as the woman you feel ;) and as my wife is younger than me, I will always feel younger.

Mind you, my wife might think that I'm actually much younger than that. I can act very young when the needs suit ;)

Anyone watch the news last night ;) Donald Trumps £1bn golf course in Aberdeenshire has been approved ;)

Apparently going to be the best course in the world.

House prices are bound to plummet by 50% in the region now:p

I'm not having a go at Aberdeen, but that £1 billion golf course development plan just doesn't make sense to me.... £1 billion! He sure has confidence in Aberdeen if this money goes in and the project goes ahead.
So Donald Trump has been given approval to build the greatest golf course in world, located on a stretch of a prime piece of the Scottish coast. This should fall under the category of "be careful what you wish for, because you might get it."

Scotland's economy has sunk to soft depression levels, golf memberships in the country have dropped significantly in the past year and the U.K. lending network that was going to partner with Trump has lost its appetite for golf developments.

Earning a profit on this, however, may be harder than getting round the course in par. Recovering the investment depends on selling the houses. This autumn, after five years of steadily rising, Aberdeen house prices suddenly dropped by 7% and sales volumes halved. And this week oil prices fell below $60 a barrel, threatening to hurt the offshore-oil industry.

Golf is no longer a sure-fire winner either. The American owner of the ultra-posh Loch Lomond club, which counts Prince Andrew as a member and hosts the Scottish Open, is having to sell it to repay loans. Plans by another American property mogul, David Wasserman, to convert a St Andrews student residence into pricey apartments in the most desirable location in golf—hard by the 18th green of the venerable Old Course—seem to have come to grief. Playing golf in Scotland can be tough, but making money out of it is a whole lot tougher.
